[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Time for reflection, yes maybe, but the title is because when leaving our hotel-room I made a quick check to see if nothing was left in the bathroom and there I saw my reflection and thought "why not" - so that could have also be the title, but then I would start to think "why" - ^-^.
.
How to:
Let the camera do the job or Ad will leave without me.
Plant your foot firmly on the toilet seat and rest your elbow on your leg to steady yourself, because you are laughing way too much.
What about overweight - don't worry, your body is leaning back.
What about all those double chins - camera is the perfect excuse and stick out that chin.
What about that skin that no longer is youthful - uhm Botox? nah --- cosmetic surgery - ouch, don't think so --- then what - just run the picture through Neat Image, that will take care of that.
What about light only overhead - yes I know not the most flattering, but maybe all those shiny tiles will bounce the light a bit...
So that is my 56 year old self.

I will upload a WS of the first early morning view from the balcony of our hotel - artwork on the dyke - to sort of explain what I see, those sunglasses also help me keep my eyes open, because they hurt all the time.
.
So this is not complaining - just stating the facts.
.
Oh yes - original picture will also be in the WS.

Excellent selfportrait, here shows the "real Henkie" :-) Very funny note too. Who's talking about overweight? Not me. Like the PP work you did, particular the re-mirroring so the name 'Sony' readable. Take care and have fun!

What a wonderful self portrait Els. I loved your note and explanations. I am very sorry your struggling with your eyes though. You have really done a super job of the background removal. It is great to be who we are and accept it, as you have shown us here. Personally I think your only 40 and don’t need any of those changes you speak of. Well done to have the words on the camera correct as well. Very smart and lovely lady indeed.

Toch denk ik dat een croppie van de bottom, de foto er nog beter door was uit gekomen.

Nice to see you did post this, Els. As I already told you, there's nothing to be ashamed of... I think Jan did a nice crop-job, cutting away the empty bits below. But I know why you cropped it like this: just to make us think "overweight, with such a slim thigh?" LOL.
Nice extraction job, the backdrop in the original is less flattering than the light, which is not that bad, really!
Also thanks for the 'artwork' that shows your eye problems.

I have enjoyed reading your thought processes! I must admit, I talk (quietly) to myself in a similar way!

You look stunning! Slimming, botox are simply unnecessary! If everyone looked as good as you, these clinics would go out of business.

A very good self portrait and excellent pp work to remove b/g, reverse shot etc. You are definitely a role model of someone who perseveres despite having severe difficulties!

Nice spur of the moment image. ;) I think it is a very nice self-portrait, conditions notwithstanding.
The post work is perfect for this image and the quality is very high with good color, balance light and sharpness.
Making the "Sony" readable was a nice idea and trick. :0)

Great self-portrait and a entertaining, funny note to go with it! Great camera too - as she already mentioned, Christan bought one and first tried it during our Montreal visit. Now I will have to borrow hers for art-reproductions, since 14.2MP allows for much larger blow-ups and detail.

Yes, you should go on a diet, have a facelift, have botox injection, and cosmetic surgery and get an artificial look.
You we kidding I know, I like you just the way you are. In fact, if that photo wouldn't have pleased you, you wouldn't have used it as your avatar.It is an interesting way of making a self portrait and you mastered the technique without using the flash which would have spoil the image. The colors are very bright ant the image is very sharp despite the low speed you had to use. I also like the crop in the workshop.

I enjoyed reading your "intro" updated. I am still smiling after looking at your portrait. And I could not stop laughing while reading your note. I guess many of us have been in that same place - overweigh? double chin? skin that no longer is youthful? But not you. You are still young, very elegant and pretty. When I take photos of my friends and myself, I have "to iron" our faces, but we are much older than you. When I take my glasses off before looking at a mirror - and I see no problem. LOL TFS

In de regel is een totale witte achtergrond niet m'n ding maar, je kleuren (-waarde ) en je belichting
vragen erom.
Knap werk " jonge dame " !
( daar heb ik nu lol in - aparte humor )

Nu vraag ik me af, om de échte Els te zien, dan moet ik
zelf ook nog eens spiegelen

WS ivm je ogen was duidelijk moet ik zeggen !
Ik kan begrijpen dat er mensen in je omgeving zeggen :
" Jij fotografie ... dat meen je niet ! "
Groot gelijk dat het je wél meent :-)
