[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
On an early foggy morning I visited the Friezenberg. After a short walk I noticed that most of the forest has disappeared and tall grasses have taken over. A close inspection showed me the remains of a forest fire.

A few meters further I found this open area where the remains were even more visable. Using the fog as a filter I set up for a shot into the filtered sunlight. I used a 0.6 ND hard grad to stop down the brigher sky and allow for more light on the moss covered ground. The purple to pinkish color of the sky is created by the sunlight reflecting of the water particals and the landscape.

a very nice 'partition' of colours, separating what still stand and alive and the fallen as remains. an effective use of a filter indeed, Niek. great outcome!

I like how the fog seems to be creating a soft protective blanket to the landscape as it heals from the effects of the forest fire. Already some new green is beginning to show. Good POV and composition, etc. for excellent results.

Very nice Niek. What catches my eye about this photo os the DOF and POV. The POV gives a unique perspective And the deep DOF works best here.

David

Hello,

Fantastique vue, quelle ambiance avec cette brume en fond, ces arbre qui se détache, et les vielle branches noires, mangigique.

Bravo et amitié

Nicou

Hoi Niek,
Opnieuw weer prachtig vastgeled. Simpel maar mooi! Die verbrande takken op de voorgrond geven de foto een prachtige diepte. De wat mistige lucht geven de foto een mysterieuze stemming. Weer helemaal goed!

Hello Niek, a beautiful image of a well composed scene. Soft light with fine and subtle colors, well done!

Mario

Hi Niek,

Weer wat geleerd over de kleur van de lucht.

Heel mooi beeld levert het op als je zo laag bij de grond fotografeert.
Het zachte licht van de mistige lucht geeft een heel prettige atmosfeer.

That's a wonderful motive, so beautiful in the colours with the misty background. Well done.
Best wishes,
Achim

Now I REALLY like this Niek! The foreground, with the RICH greens is a nice contrast to the dull grey sky! The contrast of life emerging around the dead trees! Nice details, you did a great job keeping the fog glare away! Love your processing here~!

Very moody. Thanks for the description explaining your methods and reasoning. The FG trunks lead the eye to the rest. Nice deep colours. Not pretty, but it is real. TFS. Karin

Hola Niek.
Estupendos contrastes, y buenos detalles.
Aunque el verde es intenso, destaca sobremanera el color de la madera quemada.
Un saludo, JL.

Beautiful, beautiful poster!
Very moody. Very good controll over exposure.
Nice use of wide angle!
