[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Grenspoel (border pond) located in the National Park Drent-Friese Wold, was formed by stagnating melt water during the last ice age. The pond is named the Grenspoel because the border of the province Drente and Friesland runs right through the center of the pond.

I came to this spot about half an hour before the sun would set and used some of the time to make some photos with the floodlight of the last rays. A few minutes before the actual sunset I started to set up my composition by taking an small guess on the trajectory of the sun and the options I had to move the tripod. It pretty much came down to this spot because it had a good combination of foregrond element, a nice touch on the reflection of the sky on the ice.

I used a 0.9 ND filter and a 0.9 ND grad filter to stop down and balance the exposure

Nice work on this Neik! Nice thirds, love the contrail you picked up in the shot. The ND grad served you well here. It's super sharp! I'd say it looks cold!

Stunning landscape indeed, very good timing for the exposure. The soft diffused lights look great, the reflections on the water make the image moody. Excellent use of the filter, sky colours are nice as a result. Great job, TFS!

A lovely, winter sunset.
I like how you have used the silhouetted curve of the lake to lead the eyes past the trees, towards the amber colours of the sunset. The colours in the sky are very good and look wonderful refected on the icy water.

I don't think there is light anywhere on earth like the light you get in the Netherlands. This is beautiful.
