Stompetoren

In emulation on SunToucher's post of yesterday, here my impression of this little church called "Stompetoren" [Blunt tower] in the little village near Spaarndam. Well this church is situated on a artificial dwelling hill called "terp". So the POV is below the ground level of the church, which is btw used as exposition building.

Picture taken with a CP filter.

PP work: shot in RAW, adjusted levels and curves. Increased saturation a bit (10%) used unsharpen mask.

Tried to adjust the vertical and horizontal lines (skewing) with the lens distortion tool. Still the perspective isn't 100% so any suggestions from your site?

Converted to jpeg, resized and add small frame.

Hi Hans,
Nice photo, it seems to twist my mind a bit as the building looks skewed but the trees look straight. Can see a lot of the details in the brick work due to the mid-afternoon sun beaming down and illuminating all the key parts of this scene. The DOF from F/22 looks nice and sufficient too - Well taken.

TFS,
Scott.

Nice view to compliment Niek's upload yesterday Hans.. Good and sharp, nice verticals, great saturation..

(Horizon looks tilted... Oh - that's the hill LOL)

doeleinden gebruikt wordt.

Hello,
Beautiful architecture in the green nature. Good framing and details.

Hi Hans,
Niek and you seem have had a good meeting!
I like much this composition with another angle presented by Niek ! The light slope (terp) in foreground and the tree make a good entry and depth at the image. Excellent rendering of details and colors! Bravo! Annie

Hoi Hans,
Groeten,
Niek

POV, exposure, composition are all spot-on here Mr. S. The best post-work is the stuff you can't even notice - and this shot looks totally natural, so kudos for that!

Perhaps you've spent so much time viewing the image that the perspective and lens distortion is evident to you; to me, while this does have some elements of a 'wide angle' shot, there is nothing uncomfortable or distracting about it - the proportions and lines all work well, for me.

Hoi Hans,
Lekker .... 'dramatisch' .... dat komt denk ik door die bomen. Het lijkt net alsof er harde wind staat of zo. Erg goede POV gekozen ! Mooie lucht als achtergrond. Mooie kleuren ook. Afijn, je begint het te leren. ;-)
groeten,
Joop!

What a lovely photo. I'm a fan of photos of old buildings and you have done well with this. Lots of detail in the brickwork. I always stuggle with perspective and sometimes it isn't possible to get it 100%.
