*In honor of Johannes Vermeer*
I promised our TL-friend *TINTIN* to show her this one !

In 1659 Johannes Vermeer painted: Vieuw on Delft !
This, the most famous painting by Vermeer, was part of the Amsterdam sale of 1696, no. 31: "The town of Delft in perspective, to be seen from the south, by J. van der Meer of Delft; fl 200." ($ us about 400.- in 1696 !! )
View of Delft
Last Saturday weather conditions where perfect.. cloudy..dimd..so I went to Delft by car in afternoon to make this photo nearly on the same spot Johannes Vermmeer painted this masterpiece

John I do like this shot of Delft, and just a tad bit different from Vermeer's painting(!).
It's a good composition, the colours are excellent as is your sharpness. I like the look of the shiny waters too, taking on the trees and sky's colours.
Very well done, thank you from NZ.
Kia ora (pronounced kee-ah-or-rah (quickly)

Very nice postcard from Delf and you are right the view had not changed much in 400 years. Nice composition and the boat adds a lot to it. Very nice reproduction of Vermeer painting. Well done!!!

P.S. Thanks for doing this for me...

Hi John, it is always difficult to fill the shoes of the master... But you are putting in a good effort to give us the history of your great country...

Hi John,

Nice panorama of Delft.
It is more Ïn the swimming suit of JvA instead of the footsteps of JvM.
I like the boat the most
It looks a bit dark and you cut of the masttop. Vermeer painted also the nice cloudy sky!

Good job John, you will become an Art expert.
Looking forward to the next "painting spot" of a Dutch master.

Hendrik

Now you made me spend an hour on looking at Vermeer's paintings. I must admit I was not too familiar with his work. At least I know the "Girl with the pearl earing". I'm a Van Gogh fan.(The impressionists are my favourite) But this painting of Vermeer is amazing. I know it is suppose to be the Baroque era but I see a bit of impressionism here.

The photo is great. The colours are so nice. Very much like that of the painting. you just need those dark clouds now. Excellent!!!

Hello John, very well done, I looked at Vermeer's version, and you did pretty well, you did come very close and with respect with Vermeer's pov.

Great work!

Take care, Yan ;)

Jos

So good to see this again, well done, thanx, lol, M (*_*)

Het geweldige zeegezicht, goed samengestelde en ondanks het mooie weer kleurt (humeurige, maar mooie). De mooie scène van een mooi land! Uw Griekse vriend, Vassilis
This is translated automatically from English I hope it's not too bad!

He Johnnieboy,

Don

Dear John,
Do you know why the Dutch have more painters than composers? That’s is because of the Dutch landscape and cloudy sky. You stepped from our golden age to the digital age. And you fit in directly with the same kind of images. You picked the right sphere and colors.
In principle it doesn’t matter if it comes from the pallet or CCD.

Hi John , great idea, very creative,I looked up Johannes Vermeer up on the internet to compare. Lucky yo to be able to visit the places he painted. I also agree with Josine, nice of you to send people to someone else's page. Good for you.!

So you stood where the great Johannes Vermeer stood. That must have been an emotinal photo for you to compose.....
What I find so attractive about this photo is the bright, small flags attached to the masting of the ship....somehow it just makes the composition. I also like the bright reds in the photo.
Johannes would be proud to see your composition, John. A HUGE well done from me!!!! Excellent!!!!......:o)

Prachtige foto, we moeten absoluut deze stad bezoeken,
de wolken en de kleur ervan gaan perfect met je compo!
super!
