[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
While sitting on a bench just above Bryggen in Bergen, I noticed these developping cloud patterns in the sky. First there was one stripe and soon the next appeared. I watched it for a while and then saw the resemblance of a barcode.

I went through by book of clouds and other weather types, but wasn't able to ID these. Maybe somebody can give me a hint. My guess is that they are some sort of undulatus radiatus.

Hallo Niek.
Volgens mij is dit de streepjes code voor het woord onbewolkt. verder heb ik er geen verstand van.
Erg goed gezien en mooi vastgelegd.

hahahah as far as I know they are just clouds..... lol
They do look rather funny: a lot of blue and just a tiny little bit of fluffy white. But I know how fast these can develope, specially in Norwegian skies!

Great colors and a humoristic title.

Cheers!
Anneke

Hallo Niek.

Haha ... nice title. An unusual, minimalist shot with simple composition but somehow effective.

Hello Niek.

I love clouds in every form and sahpe and this gentle image you presented us is something I haven't seen for a log time. Great perception and very nice shot!

TFS!

David

Heerlijk Niek,

In gedachten zit ik mee te kijken - geen idee wat de naam is van deze wolkenformatie, maar het ziet er prachtig uit.
Less is more in deze compositie.

Bonjour Niek,

Very unusual clouds indeed. I do like your composition here.
the simpler, the better.

Right now in november, in Japan, we have something close to this that we call "scale" clouds, as they look like the scales of a fish. They are beautiful but hard to shot (they disappear very quickly). Have you heard of these?

I am looking forward to see more of these,

Damien.

Niek,

If you ask me they are wave clouds (or rotor clouds), created through orographic lift of air. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wave_cloud
On the shot itself; special for showing the rather rare cloud type, well seen and good show for capturing them.

Best regards,

OWO

Someone in the sky is trying to say something but his texts are not clear....

nice composition

Hi Niek,

I scanned this "barcode" and it was hiding a secret message. It decodes to:
"Niek you've got an eye for original subjects"
Thanks for sharing fun by photography :)

Hi Niek, It is indeed an interesting phenomenon to see such a cloud formation which looks so much like a bar code in the sky. The white clouds look good in such a clear blue sky. TFS. Murray.
