On one of our last days in the city of Bergen my husband and I took tram (?) up Mount Fløyen it offers a great view of the city, the harbour (Vågen) (taken from Norway tourism site)then walked down the other side... It was the 2nd day we had some sun and we where lucky enough to make the top as the sun was coming up...

edit.. Thank you Carol for setting me straight on what this ride is called.. :)

A funicular, also known as a funicular railway, incline, inclined railway, inclined plane, or cliff railway, is a type of self-contained cable railway in which a cable attached to a pair of tram-like vehicles on rails moves them up and down a very steep slope, the ascending and descending vehicles counterbalancing each other

Hi Tricia---
AHHHHH beautiful view. Nice blues here. Great lighting.
Stay warm ! Julie

Bonjour Tricia,

Boats of all kinds are surely a good response to the Friday theme. Good DOF, nice exposure and sharpness. Nice work and TFS.

Alain

Many varied types of transport Tricia - even the old sailing vessel, and down to the modern ships.
Nice view, and it looks very bleak and cold - but the sun is shining

Hi Tricia,
Missed this posting. Great crisp and clear view, a perfect contribution to the theme. Like that tall ship in the harbour, it's a nice detail. Great posting Tricia.
Hans

WOW! I see a square rigger down there! Really nice shot Tricia. I might would have shot this at F11 or higher, therefore making the shutter speed slower, to allow more details in! Looks like you had a fun time there!

Hello Tricia !

You are indeed a lucky lady to have the opportunity to visit Bergen. Many Norwegian ships are displaying proudly panoramic images of Bergen from that belvedere. So I recognised the view at once, even if I never actually saw it live.

Well worthed this visit up hill. Bergen is a very active port , scpecially with the oil industry, and all the oil rigs, supply boats based here. Ferries, Fishing boats, cruise ships, tankers. A lot of activity in port, and no wonder why so many Norwegian seafarers and ship operators are from there.

You picked up the right POV and angle to capture the sunlight against the buildings and landscape, avoiding shooting against the sun.

Well done.
Robert
