[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Preikestolen (Preacher's Pulpit or Pulpit Rock) is a massive cliff 604 metres above Lysefjorden. The top of the cliff is approximately 25 by 25 metres, square and almost flat, and is a famous tourist attraction in Norway. Once on the edge of the top, as many hikers have experienced it, one may definitely feel the desire to jump, invited by sort of a mystic voice, in a real dream of flying, that contributes to Preikestolen's majestic reputation.

Usually people crawl to the edge to have a peek down, but others are more brave and and sit on the edge. I didn't need to wait too long before someone went to the edge to put the cliff into a perspective.

Unfortunatly, as I'm still a freshman regarding photography, I didn't expose for the sky, hence the blown-out part...

Hello Kjetil. This is definitely the kind of photograph that benefits from having people in the photo to show a sense of scale. Your composition and exposure are bang on! Well done!

Lars

Hi Kjetil...this is a nicely comosed shot...you captured the height of the mountain wonderfully.

Roger

whoah... very nice and fun view. makes me want to go there and take a look down from the pulpit. You can't get a good exposure on your subject as well if you meter on the sky for the exposure. I think you just meter the part of the photo with mid level of brightness then fix the rest using PS. You can also try to do HDR. However, you cannot tell those guys on the top of the cliff to remain still until you get all the exposures you need. TFS... Wynn

I think the blown out part in the sky isn't all that bad for this image. The persons standing there on the edge are IN the blown out part, so in a way it gives them more attention, but without taking away the attention of the hight you try to show here.
TRY to show, yes, because I know that one can never show the magnificence of this place in a picture....

A few years ago I have been here too and I have seen this rock.... I cannot even begin to explain what I felt while I stood up there.....

I really believe you did a fine job here Kjetil.

Cheers,
Anneke
