B/W is fine. Just wondrin' what's with the odd shadow on the right? imo also, the white vertical stripe on the left is a bit distracting.

The sun was strong that day. For the majority of the face, the light is well balanced. The wall as i white color mean very strong reflector, it's right top part of the head receive a serious overdose! Not easy to deal a contrast like that. I don't know if it was on the moment but to minimise that, before a photo... we are not on tv.. no obligation of make-up but just usng a simple dry piece of tissus is very helpfull the remove the over of facial oil we the most of time have in over on the skin... So reflective...
Yes it's candid.... But i could see other details... like... Some self confidence! Perhaps thinking of a good souvenir! The wall give an excellent texture! I enjoy the B&W choice too!

Sorry - I am not good at all in taking portraits or other people photos. In my opinion the POV and fraing is very nice here but the contrast and sharpness between object and BG could be higher. So take this as a personal opinion only. Have a great day. Thomas

I think he is saying to himself is this photo session over yet?, no only joking, I'm like you sometimes it is difficult to say what people really think with their expressions. Good portrait with a near white slightly textured bg. Different portrait presentation because of its light and or predominately white setting. I think I could distinguish your shadow on the wall. Good "candid" photo.

I think this portrait portrays a very strong man in mind and spirit. He appears content and proud in where he is in his life. I can only hope to be as at peace in my life as this man appears.

Hmmm, you talk about "him" and what is "he" thinking.
He knows his picture is being taken, I can see that by looking at the muscles in his face. He has a twinkle in his eye - wants to appear the "who cares" type, but does not succeed.
Can you help me with the rest of his thoughts?
This must be fun asking people what he thinks - most of the time one projects his own line of thought in cases like this one.
