I thought I would post some photos from my recent vacation to Norway. This is a photo of the UNESCO World Heritage Site; Røros.

Some information from the UNESCO site:

Date of Inscription: 1980

The history of Røros, which stands in a mountainous setting, is linked to the copper mines: they were developed in the 17th century and exploited for 333 years until 1977. Completely rebuilt after its destruction by Swedish troops in 1679, the city has some 80 wooden houses, most of them standing around courtyards. Many retain their dark pitch-log facades, giving the town a medieval appearance.

Here you see the bell used to gather the miners and in the distance the chuch or “Bergstadens Ziir”

I know, it has been a very long time since my last post on TL. Work has kept me very busy and the time I had was limited. But I still kept an eye on the site and did miss the interaction with my friends.

Hoi Niek,
I'm happy this see y'r back my friend! Boy I missed your postings, glad to see this one. Great composition, excellent clear and vivid colours. Like the up slope, creating a diagonal taking my eyes up to the nice white church. Crisp and clear picture my friend.
Keep on sending more :-)
Hans

Long time no see, Niek. Hope you are well.

This is a nicely composed shot with the diagonal of the buildings splitting the image nicely - the white and red are lovely and boled, they stand out well against that blue sky. Good shot.

Hello Niek! Amazing church, wonderful tower, very interesting architecture. Original composition. Marvelous picture. Good luck!

Hoi Niek

I won't talk about technical stuff, I leave that to my more learned friends, but yr thumbnail caught my eye. I like the composition and the clear, crisp colours.

Hi Niek
looking at your presentation I can see an interesting place. the first glance goes to the white, than the red&white, from there to the brown. a wonderful triangle that with the beautiful blue makes a perfect whole picture.

Hi Niek,
Beautifully sharp details to these wonderful historic buildings that are also seen in vivid clear colors and the deep blue sky makes the perfect backdrop for this fine image.
Enjoyed your informative note.

First impression to hit my brain is the wonderful use of the morning light - stunning. Follow that with the many textures of the wood from the unpainted buildings to the steeple to the red structure - great contrast. And you were lucky enough to get a good sky. Bravo.

Hello Niek,

So you could not go to Røros without securing this classical image!
And you do very well here, in fact this is one of the best I have seen, ever...
Great light and the colours are amazing in this well balanced composition!

Greetings,
Pablo -

hello Niek

A nice capture of different style of buildings and well composed on a slope of diagonal.

Norwegian architecture with good contrast of window framing. I am most impressed with the log-cabin style and the tower in this view.

A fine post of WHC site.

Hello Niek

Nice to see you back and what a superb shot this is. Excellent sharp detail and lighting, good colour saturation and I really like the balanced angle view here, almost like two triangles, one for the sky full of whispy clouds and the other for the buildings. Very interesting compo.

TFS regards Helen

Un saludo y tfs, JL.

Hi Niek,

Already thought it looked a bit familiar. Pablominto (who just left TL) has also taken a look around here.
Lovely your chosen POV and the typical architecture.
Very attractive picture.
