From Breivikeidet, looking across Ullsfjorden towards the Lyngen Alps. The peak to the right is Trollvasstinden (1440m), and to the left we see Stortinden (1512m).
(Click on the picture and you get a big version!)

From www.lyngenalp.no :
"The Lyngen Peninsula is situated at around latitude 70° N, and is home to some of Norway’s most wild and spectacular mountains. The municipality of Lyngen is found in Troms County. It consists the northern part of a Peninsula between the Lyngen fjord and the Ullsfjord.

The Lyngen Alps feature many glaciers and steep snow-capped peaks rising 1000m-1800m above sea level. The highest of these peaks is Jiekhevarri (1833 m).

The Lyngen Peninsula is divided by many deep, transversal valleys with narrow rivers.
There are wide plains on the eastern and western sides of the Alps. On the eastern side of the Alps in the outermost part of Lyngen, the mountains rise virtually vertically from the sea for a 30 km stretch.

The Lyngen Alps are now a landscape protected area, with the aim of protecting the area’s distinctive character for future generations."

Hi Jon!

Wonderful landscape photograph with a beautiful view. Your country is just amazing.
I kinda like the boat on the right and the big, snowy mountains in the background.
The sky - behind the mountains - looks like a painting, it's awesome.
Very well composed and executed picture. Congratulations! :o)

hei hei Jon,

It has been quite a while since we were last up as north as Tromso, but it sure is on our list to visit again...
We absolutely adore these Lyngen Alps. The landscape is sooo beautiful up there.........

This is a wonderful picture of an amazing place and it makes me long back for those long summer nights....
I must say though that I don't envy you during the long dark winters... I don't think I coult cope with that...

Cheers,
Anneke
