One of my favourite subjects, since this guy is very cooperative when it comes to treating light in surprising ways!

Here he is photographed with nature as background, in fact it is sunrise even if the sun is outside the picture in the lower right corner. However we can see its reflections and refractions several places in the figure…

The polar bear is a clear crystal figure about 12 cm from nose to tail. During my experiments I have noticed light behaves differently in crystal as compared to glass… I’m no expert but I guess this is because crystal contains lead..? I will be happy if anyone can fill me in here!

Just normal post processing here… Increasing contrast, noise reduction, rotating and cropping only.

By the way… the subject is the same in my former posting “The Blues…”, however that is a macro shot in a different setting where it is hard to see what the subject actually is…

Gostei, a figura parece maior do que realmente é.

Achei lindo o reflexo do Sol e a transparência do cristal.

Boa perspectiva, Parabéns.

Hi Pablo, I find this a beauty, the colors are great, and it's a very creative job.

Marleen

I love how the lightpasses through the crystal and the composition. You think of very interesting shots to take.

Regards,

Tom

Hi Pablo !
This point of view/angle creates the perfect illusion. It seems a big ice sculpture that starts to melt.
Excellent in all the aspects !
All the best,
Rui
P.S. here 10ºC, very gray, wind and rain... you are not alone...

Looks almost like the bad guy in terminator 2, the one that could liquify.

Nice contrast.

Hi Pablo!
You are always so inventive in the subject and their treatment in your photos! At firs glance I thought that this bear is some northen monument to the bear - at least 2 meters big...
Best regards and thanks!

Image has been shot beautifully with good details. Capture of glare on the bear is remarkable especially reflecting bronze sun on the butt.

Compliments for sharing a glossy image.

Hallo Pablo,
Deine Ideen gefallen mir sehr.
Schöne Grüsse
Eva

I just see it as ironic to think this is ice who permit those bear to survive and that actually as the ice is melting, they're chance of surviving too...

Wonderfull! The melting of ice is make it of an incredible texture! The sunrise we see trough is a delicate touch!

Hi my friend Pablo!
Great Photo!
I like the POV!

Hello Pablo
This poor creature, out of its natural habitat, seems to melt under heat!
Intresting light shapes on dark sections created by refraction through glass.
Best regards.
Robert

Hi Pablo,
