Hi there!
Picture from 'sad but true' category.
We can see here the largest coal fueled thermal power plant in Europe, the 'Elektrownia Bełchatów' seen from a distance. This object has the highest chimneys in Poland which have 300 meters. Thay are producing huge amount of steam and smoke which create short or long lasting clouds- depends of the weather condition.
Picture was taken during my visit from studies. On the ground we can see huge artificial reservoir of ashes from brown coal burning processes. This power plant produce almost 20% of energy in Poland. Changes in natural enviornment are gigantic in the area, on the ground and below as well.
Here You can see satelite image of the power plant and surrounding: http://www.wikimapia.org/#y=51267393&x=19329329&z=13&l=0&m=a&v=2
Thanks a lot for watching,
have a nice day to all! |

Adrian,
Whether or not we agree with the subject of the photo, we must agree that it is a beautiful photograph which tells a story. You've captured the beauty and the tragedy at the same time. Congratulations!
