[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Queen of Spain Fritillary (Issoria lathonia) is a butterfly of the Nymphalidae family. It is common in southern Europe, migrating as far north as south Scandinavia every summer. It is also found in North Africa, India, Central Asia, Himalayas and China.

Heat-dependent, this species is found breeding on the hottest places of the foodplants of the larvae (prefers Viola tricolor and Viola arvensis). The adult is a strong flyer, and may be found anywhere but forests.

The eggs of this species are laid on the Wild Pansy (Viola tricolor).

Flight time is between March and October, size is between 38 mm and 46 mm, and is usually found at altitudes between sea level and 2700 m

Witaj,
chyba rzadzszy gość na naszych łąkach i polach, bo nie widziałem takiego osobnika. Piękne są te zielone plamki, podobne w odcieniu do liści szałwi.
Pozdrowienia - Sławek

Siegfried,
This is very smooth and pretty. Quite attractive marking on the butterfly wings, the olive greens in the wings and foliage are strikingly uniform. best regards...
Danilo

Hi Siegfried,

A great macro capture of the Queen of Spain Fritillary butterfly! The sharpness and well-chosen POV with shallow DOF, collectively give great results here. The colors are very natural and the textures on the wings are very well shown. I like the eyes of the butterfly. Great composition!

best regards,
Paras Bhalla

Hello Siegfried,

This really is a fine, detailed shot of a butterfly that I have never seen before. Excellent wing patterns and colours, and excellent details of the eye. The chosen dof makes the insect stand out well from its b/g.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)
