[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This photo was taken in Bytom. Such a nice place Bytom but it is a past.

Bytom is one of the oldest cities of Upper Silesia and of history reaching back to XI century. Town charter it got already in year 1254. Reach and turbulent history of Bytom, causing changes of and also its' location on track connecting West with East of Europe as well as North with South have contributed to development of many cultures, habits and economy. Aware of multi centennial traditions and unity with European nations also Bytom is trying to develop a number of contacts with European cities as we reckon that in fact integration of Europe takes place on local societies level. Inhabitants of Bytom for many years already are conveying contacts with various cities - also very distant ones and their activities are strongly supported by local authorities.

This days Bytom is a one of the ugliest places in Poland.

super!! Uwielbiam takie klimaty... zrezta to dziwne ze z jednej strony wydaje sie to byc jakims strasznym zaniedbaniem etc. ale z drugiej strony to przeciez teskni sie do miejsc ktore sie pamieta z dziecinstwa etc. pamietam sklep papierniczy, w ktorym byly tez zabawki. z wiadomego powodu bardzo go lubilam w dziecinstwie a potem wygladal podobnie do tego na Twoim zdjeciu a pozniej go zburzyli i wiesz co? wolalam go chyba takiego brzydkiego niz zadnego, chociaz wygladal strasznie = przyznaje!!!

That is some beautiful ugliness, Hans. A contradiction, I guess. Photography can turn urban blight into something pleasing to conemplate. I wonder what that says about our aesthetics. -Hugh

Very good geometry and contrast; also a good documentary photo!

Superb B&W shot, Hans! Wow! So much stuff to look at, including the little bicycle above the thrash can. My kind of urban photography!

Super Janek ,zachodze tylko gdzie to ustrzeliles w Bytomiu, bo na Katowickiej to nie pamietam aby tam cos takiego bylo.Chyba ze co Spyra wyburzyl jeszcze masz pamiatke. Pamietasz" Ludowa" i kin Gloria i Swit.Ja juz tam nie bylem 17 lat.A co do Zdjecia jest WSPANIALE.

yes , is ugly sight of bytom, but u shot it so beautiful. b/w is great choice here, wld be perfect if a local in the pics as well.

Nice street scene, ugly turn out to be beautiful in this picture. Excellent use of b&w too. Simple but yet effective and nice composition.

Interesting capture with a lot of scratched posters ! Feniks is a good title :) and I loke your b&w. The small bike adds sthg to the compo.
