Cave in Mechowo. The only one this type in Poland and in Northern Europe, the geological peculiar, came into being in grounds of moraine hill, as a result of rinse of sand from among the sedimentary rocks, cemented with carbonate of calcium, and by this more resistant to erosion. The low corridor of several-dozen-metre length runs in depth of hill. Dripstone forms occure in him: the stalactites and the glazes, partly coloured on red colour thanks to presence of compound of iron dissolved in water .
The oldest mention about cave in Mechowo comes from 1818, when it was accidentally uncovered during geodetic works. In 1908 Prussian authorities regarded it for monument of nature. |

Bom dia Robert,
Curious rocky formation. Nice "architecture" and excellent capture: focus, colors, details and POV.
Very good,
Regards
Raimundo
