«The harbour structure of the Autonomous Region of Madeira changed with the activation of the commercial port of Caniçal, such a definition having been approved in the council of the Government of the Autonomous Region of Madeira through its Management Plan of the Port of Funchal.
This plan establishes a suitability of the existing spaces and the way of connecting the whole of the harbour area to the surrounding urban area, transforming the port into an exclusively tourist shipping and pleasure boat infrastructure and an active part of the city of Funchal.»
