Discover Portugal: I decided to promote some regions of Portugal.

This photo was taken near to Vila Real. The "Canastros or Caniços" are common constructions in some villages of the North of Portugal. It's origin is Galician but on think that these constructions are from the epoque of the roman castros. This constructions was used to to keep the cereals away of the rodents and to dry the cereals. The length of the constructions varies but the height is between 1,30 and 1,50 meters, to keep the spikes close to the walls so that they dry better.

I hope you like this assemble.

Luis, this is a great montage, in fact it reminds me a little of a post card. I think this is very interesting I have never seen one of these constructions before, so I really enjoyed this shot, thanks for sharing it with us, great note as well.

Interesting combination of pictures. These images I don't really equate with Portugal but right now, I can. Thanks for your notes. I like the corn the most. They look like pearls.

Great montage. Not what we usually expect to see from Portugal and therefore a nice surprise. Thank you for sharing.
