Roman Bridge
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This is a very well preserved roman brigde, that you can find in Chaves in the north of Portugal.
It was buildt between the end of the I century and the begginings of the II century when Trajan was the roman emperor (98-117). This bridge have two pilars where you can read this and other information.
It's was the main acess to the roman city of Aquae Flaviae also profundly related with Trajan, that was the first emperor from outside Rome's primitive domain and also the first emperor from iberic peninsula. |

Hi Fabio
I like the image youīve got here. A few thoughts on it from me here:
1) Itīs a very nice B&W image. However, itīs quite varied in terms of light and dark areas (for example the difference between the sky and the area under the bridge). If you have access to photoshop or something similar that lets you work with levels and curves, you could lighten up some of those dark areas, as well as darken the sky a bit. I think that would help.
2) The sky. You could use some more contrast in the sky. Dodging the highlights and burning the shadows (photoshop can help you with this, and probably other more wallet-friendly software types also;), can help increase this contrast.
3) The reflection in the water is very nice. Itīs not too clear, but I think the movement on the water also creates some texture that adds to the quality of this image.
4) The bridge creates a nice line into the photo. Thatīs good. I think you could have given it an even more commanding role if your POV (point of view) had been more to the right side, getting closer to the it and making the line the bridge forms into the image a larger part of the composition
5) Cropping. I would consider cropping off a little bit of the sky, and possibly slightly off at the bottom, but making sure thereīs still room for the reflection. That could make the compostion more compact.
6) A note on any (if any) PP (post-processing) on the image would also be interesting. I like that youīve added some info on the location. Far too many on TL leave the note section open. Iīm glad you didnīt :)
TFS :)

Hi Fabio,
A very nice view across the bridge here and in good detail too. I do see though that the image is blown out on the right side and has a bit too much sky in the frame. I've done a WS for you just to give a differnet feeling to the image, See what you think? Hope you like it
Still a nice shot though
Good effort
John
