[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I was reminded by another TrekLens member that I haven't been very active in this site. So i decided to take the time to post this photo (which I have been meaning to do for a while now).

11 years and 10 days ago my husband lost his sight due to a gunshot wound, he was a teenager, kids and guns DON"T MIX WELL. Many would expect this to have been a tragic incident. The truth is that every year (since we met 6 years ago) we celebrate the day he became blind as his rebirth day because he was given a new chance at being alive. This is simply a prelude to explain this photo.
My husband loves art even when he can not see it, even paintings and photos he loves it all, he says what he imagines through the descriptions is simply beauty and the essence of the artist comes through. As a hobby, and stress reliever he sculpts (he's a computer programmer), but he loves to feel the sculpted works of others. He delights in finding the traces of the tools and the material that has been sculpted away. Visitng the garden Of Queluz was a treat because many of the scuplted works are at touching level, and he had seen photographs of the gardens in an artbook before he lost his sight. (he had often spoken of these marvelous works he had seen in a book in a foreign language but he didn't remember the name of the book or the language it was written in) As soon as he "saw" a statue there (not the one pictured) he recognized it was from the book he had seen and litterally took us on the tour of the gardens as he remembered every aspect of what he had read down to a fountain in the middle of a pond with a sculture of a monkey.
I almost cropped this to just show the hand and the sculpture but in second thought I didn't. I like the partial tree and how it makes the photo almost appear intimate. some color adjustments contrast adjustments and resized incrementally and saved. Added border.

Beautiful picture eventhough I find the arm of the statue too close to the top edge of the picture. Bright colours and great lighting. Great note too, somehow it shows that real blinds are not the ones that we think are. Or it takes more than a pair of eyes to be able to see.

Thank you Cristina. I feel you posted this one with me in mind. It's nice to see a photo of your husband looking at the sculpture. Your note sends a strong message and was a joy to read. Cool ponytail! My husband has one too, but not as long.

Olá Cristina,
Uma composição excelente para uma foto cheia de significado.
Um abraço
Paula
