[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Castle of Marvão, village in the south of Portugal in the frontier with Spain.
It's name (Mar-vah-uh) was given by Ibn Marwan al-Yil'liqui (killed in 889), líder of a sufi movement in the Al-Andaluz (name that Arabes gave to the Iberian Peninsula), that took arms against the Emirs of Córdova and criated a independent realm of sorts, with its capital in Badajoz.
Such Realm survived until 930.
The Christians re-conquered the place in the 11th Century and fortifed it for the first time. Was an excelent observation point only 13 km from the frontier and virtually unbeatable due to the almost impossible access by south. A 18th Century priest described it as the most secure fortress in Portugal whos walls could only be conquered by birds.

i've got back there and take other pictures, in order to get some impact I had to make a lot of changes in this picture that i had to scan.
I'll post the original soon as ws.
