One more from the city of Santarém
I like the contrast between the war tank and the church.

Santarém is the lively capital of Ribatejo: in contrast to Alentejo, vast green plains stretch into the horizon, often flooded by the river Tagus. The whole region is proud of its tradition of horse and bull-rearing; the bullfights in Santarém are famous as well as its large, annual agricultural fair.

In itself, Santarém offers interesting churches and the well-known Jardim das Portas do Sol, gardens enclosed by the city´s medieval walls and with magnificent views over the river and the vast plains. Golegã is a quiet town which, in November, gathers crowds of horse-lovers in its colourful annual horse fair.

From the Jardim (garden) das Portas do Sol, built where a Moorish castle used to stand and with its gardens surrounded by the city´s medieval walls, the view over the river Tagus and vast meadowlands could well be an emblem of this pleasant district capital of the Ribatejo.

Another emblematic sight are the campinos, the typical herdsmen with colourful clothes that gather here particularly during the bullfight season or in June, when Santarém (pronounced "Santarain") receives the largest agricultural fair of the country.

On the same grounds where the fair is held there are restaurants where you can taste, all year round, some of the gastronomical specialities of the Ribatejo, a region famous for bull and horse breeding.

Santarém can be proud of its past: an important center during Roman times, it became a stronghold for the Moors and was later favoured by the Portuguese kings for gatherings of the Cortes (parliaments).

In the old town you can visit the Igreja do Seminário, a Baroque church built in 1640 with a painted wooden ceiling and marble and gilt decoration, or the 14th-century Igreja da Graça, with a wonderful window carved from a single stone and which contains the tombstone of Pedro Álvares Cabral, who discovered Brazil.

The Museu Arqueológico is quite interesting, with many fine specimens from the Roman and Moorish periods and the intricately carved tomb of Duarte de Meneses, a brave governor of Portugal in Morocco, which is said to contain all that could be saved after his violent death at the hands of the Arabs: a single tooth.

Superb observation and recording. There is an appearance as if some of it is an airbrush illustration - the camouflage - and the clouds are threatening, which adds volumes to the meaning of it.
Congratulations.

Chris

Superb image fernando. And the cloudy sky as a backdrop makes it more dramatic! Well done!

Hi fernando,
I like the incongruity between tank, cloulds and church. An excellent composition. The color is also very impressive.

Hello Fernando, You succeeded in making a war photo into something lovely to look at, well imho :)

Tanks are not photogenic in my own opinion but the way you composed it and the pp work that you did, makes them very nice and photogenic!

Very well done my friend.

Take care, Yan

Great composed and dramatic shot so.
