Festa dos Tabuleiros

Em Tomar realiza-se a tradicional Festa dos Tabuleiros de quatro em quatro anos no principio de Julho, a qual traz à cidade muitos turistas nacionais e estrangeiros. Esta Festa tem como origem o culto do Espírito Santo instituído no séc. XIV. A devoção ao Espírito Santo foi criada pela Rainha Santa Isabel. No adorno dos Tabuleiros, das casas e das ruas, encontramos flores, o pão e as espigas de trigo que são elementos típicos das antigas e tradicionais festas das colheitas. Na Festa dos Tabuleiros para além do tradicional Cortejo, realiza-se também o Cortejo dos Rapazes, o Cortejo do Mordomo, os Cortejos Parciais, as ruas ornamentadas pela população, os Arraiais e os Jogos Populares e a Pêza, tudo isto ao longo de três dias.

This is a great party and a very beautiful one.There are many Streets with the grown all full of flowers and you just a little space to walk.
It was very interesting if you have more photos of this wonderful Place - TOMAR, near FATIMA.
Your photo is very well taked. Thanks to remember this time in Tomar.Last year 2007 there was party there now just in 2011.

Poor cow. Looking at her makes me think of the old song: "Where did she get that hat?" And what large horns she has too. You are focused well on teh face and decorations.
It is an interesting festival stemming from a religious feast. Thank you for sharing
