Original shot on workshop

The architectural complex of the sanctuary is situated on the edge of a rocky cliff at Cabo Espichel. It is the most characteristic and important of the area.

This agglomeration of buildings is made up of an ancient small shine, a church from the eighteenth Century, rustic remains from "inns" of the time, an aqueduct and the "Casa da Agua" - a vast array of architecture of varying styles. The cult of "Our Lady of the Cape" got forgotten U1 the passing of time and it is believed that even before the XV century, Espichel was a centre of pugnmages.

The actual cult dates back to 1410 when an image of Our Lady of the Cape was discovered by two elderly gentlemen from Capanca and Alcabideche. They were indivt dually told of its existence by way of heavenly appantions.

Before 1701 (when the present church was constructed), the area was encircled with houses constructed in no specific arrangement to house pilgnms.

By 1715, so many pilgnms went to the Cape that special inns with storerooms and ample porches beneath had to be built. The senes of arches running alongside the prinapal buildings lend a rare imponence to this complex of such extraordinary hentage. The building of the inns started in 1715 but itwas only between the years of 1745 and 1760 that it took on amp lerdimensions. The church dates back to 1701 as a royal idea from D. Pedro II.

Access to the shnne is gained by passing though a screen of Brazilian wood into a wide aisle. The wooden ceiling sports an oil painting of the Virgin by the artist LourenCo da Cunha. Towenng above the rugged cliffs, to the west of the church and the inns, is the Ermida da Memóna, a small shnne built on the side where tradition has it that the miraculous appantion of the Virgin occured. (Building of National Interest decrae 37 728 of 5/11/1950) .

Just a wonderfull shot. Composition is perfect. The cross break the symertry and gives to the shot it's power. DOF is perfect. Bravo.
Maybe the sepia is to hard, but this is subjective!

Fantástica. A côr, o ponto de fuga e o equilibrio da foto são sem dúvida factores a destacar.

Parabéns

Truly spectacular shot here Carlos.

First off very nice and extensive note!
Secondly, there are so many great things in the this photo, that I feel I will have to list them all! :)

The colour scheme you chose works into the mood, and gives a feeling of remembrance. The building itself with the buildings extending from the background to the sides and even up to the fore-front was a marevelous idea, really looks great! And the continuing arches, make for a solid pattern, really nice. Then lastly, the cross at the off center really looks.... just, just perfect. This photo really is a 9.5/10.

Only reason you lose .5 is because nothing is perfect!

Take care,

Biance.
