Hi dear TL friends,

This a view of the Lisbon Nations park. I background we can see a big tower with national flag.

'EXPO 98' opened in Lisbon on May 22nd and ran until September 30th, 1998, in PARK OF THE NATIONS. The event was an officially sanctioned world exposition, as recognized by the BIE, the Bureau International des Expositions.

I took this photo in PARK OF THE NATIONS. Here we can see the flags of all countries and the information about location in the World Map.

The peoples read the information about the country, as we can see in this photo.

EXPO'98 took its place as part of a rich tradition of international expositions, the first generally recognized as being the London Exposition of 1851.
The idea for the holding an international exposition in Lisbon was originally voiced by the National Committee for the Commemoration of the Portuguese Discoveries, a body which studied a number of varying activities which would serve to highlight the historic importance of the Portuguese discoveries made during the last decades of the 15th century. The period reached its culmination with the first sea passage to India, by Vasco da Gama in 1498, and the discovery of Brazil in 1500 by Pedro Álvares Cabral.
This chapter is an attempt to provide an overview of what the 11 million visitors who came to the Lisbon World Exposition experienced during its 132-day run.

Now we have all days, many tourists in this beautiful place

A picture with a wonderful airy feel to it; must be the proximity of water. Love those calbe cars high up in the air - what a view they must offer (did you go there?)
