[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Volcanic activity formed the Island of Madeira 20 Million years ago. In this photo you can see the nearly vertical dikes (darker brown/black colour)cutting through the already existing sedimentary layers (lighter brown/red colour). This was our last day of hiking on Madeira and was a total contrast from the other mostly overcast and drizzly days. The ocean is so blue here -- it is truely amazing.

Wow, the contrast between the rock and the blue water is fantastic. Great detail in the sky and clouds as well. Great shot.

Hi Karin
Love the composition with the three elements water, sky and rock.
The rugged landscape here is very beautiful with erosion playing its
part in sculpturing the opening at the far end. Well seen

Paul

Hi Karin! Lovely scenery. I like the contrasting hues of yellows and blues. A very detailed perspective.
TFS,
Freddie :)

To get that blue of the sea, sometimes we have to sacrifice metering on others. here, you got all perfect. though i think you can reduce the brightness of the sky a little in PP.

Btw...I read your profile, and I think we have to take picture of what we like. Not what others ppl like, haven't we ? :D

You have an awesome gallery

Yan

Bonjour Karin,
J'ai quasiement la même photo, avec l'océan d'un bleu profond pareil, et les falaises désertiques aux différentes teintes d'ocres.
C'est incroyable comme cette île est diversifiée. Très bon rendu !
Bonne journée

Karèle

Hi Karin,
It was surely pleasant to hike this volcanic formation, but I hope that you also bathed in this fabulous sea! :)

Very good colours, I like the contrast between the reddish rock and the deep-blue sea. The only just visible reflections add a lot of interest to the water.

Tibi

My mother's been there too, she says it's one of the most beautiful islands she visited... I like this view, K&M... The deep colour saturation, the contrast between the brownish rocks and the deep blue sea, the little rock on the left that makes the water foam there...
However nice, the scenery can't compare with the volcanic caldera of the Greek isle Santorini (Thira) though...
A beautiful picture in all aspects. TFS

very blue, but beautiful

Hi Karin,
Whaa..... so blue, lovely blue!!... of the sky and the stunning sea. They had given the rocky layers a great frame with very nice contrast. Lovely to see...
TFS
