Dear TrekLens friends! Thanks for your support...
Time is for small rest...

Tomorrow on 6 march, with “Nolitours” airline we will fly to Acapulco, Mexico. I’m hop amazing place for visit. I’m expecting nice weather and lot of new pictures...

To all “TL” members and friends I wish to have a great time and I hope you all the best... Will be back about 20 – 25 march, kind regards, George

For today: Same series, Portugal - Lisbon...
Aspect of the ruined of the Carmo Church,
which was destroyed in the Lisbon earthquake...

The Carmo Convent is a monument located in the city of Lisbon, in Portugal. The mediaeval convent was ruined in the 1755 Lisbon Earthquake, and the ruins of its Gothic church are the main trace of the great earthquake still visible in the city.
The Carmo Convent is located in the Chiado neighbourhood, on a hill overlooking the Rossio square and facing the Lisbon Castle hill. It is located in front of a quiet square Carmo Square, very close to the Santa Justa Lift.

Lisbon had been shaken by several important earthquakes before November 1755: eight in the 14th century, five in the 16th century (including the 1531 earthquake that destroyed 1,500 houses, and the 1597 earthquake when three streets vanished), and three in the 17th century. During the 18th century, two earthquakes were reported in 1724 and 1750. In 1755, the earthquake struck on the morning of 1 November, the Catholic holiday of All Saints' Day.

Contemporary reports state that the earthquake lasted between three-and-a-half and six minutes, causing gigantic fissures five-metres (15 ft) wide to appear in the city centre. Survivors rushed to the open space of the docks for safety and watched as the water receded, revealing a sea floor littered by lost cargo and old shipwrecks. Approximately forty minutes after the earthquake, an enormous tsunami engulfed the harbour and downtown, rushing up the Tagus river. It was followed by two more waves. In the areas unaffected by the tsunami, fire quickly broke out, and flames raged for five days.

I’m hope you will like it, thanks for visit, George

Hello George,
What remains tells me this once was a great house of worship!
Tight framing works well, with fine details in the architecture, attractive colour palette!
