[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Alfama is the district that survived the earthquake in 1755, so that you can still find old houses at alleyways there. Many quarters are in very bad condition. Since some years Lisbon tries with help of the EC to stop the dilapidation and also to preserve the habitability of this quarter for the future. In the Alfama you can find numerous little grocer shops, workshops, taverns and small restaurants having mostly not more than 3 tables. Choose the cathedral as start/final point so that you don't get lost in the alleyways.

Sào Vicente de Fora, seen from the vantage point Miradouro de Santa Luzia.

The Castelo de Sào Jorge sits enthroned over the Alfama. There is an indescribably beautiful view over Lisbon from its ramparts and its vantage point. It is also an ideal place for photos with tripod and self-timer!

In the National Pantheon, the Santa Engrácia are the cenotaphs of Portugal's heroes. The interior is colossal.

The Casa dos Bicos is the most conspicuous house in Lisbon. The façade seems modern although it goes back to the 16th century
