[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Somewhere in the city of Coimbra. In Portugal tiles (azulejos) reminiscent of the influence of the Moors during the Middle Ages were – and still are – used here to a far greater extent than in most other European countries. Throughout Portugal, in streets on facades and inside buildings, there are tiles that represent the different styles and languages of times past and present and fill any visit to the country with colour. Orginating from the Arabic term al-zeleique meaning small, smooth and polished stone, the production of tiles in Portugal on a nationale scale began at the end of the XV century. However, it was not until the XVIII century that tiles began to invade churches, palaces, houses, gardens, fountains and staircases.

beautiful tiles on the old wooden door.
I think the cultures are different each other and various by places and ages, but it is a very surfacial things. because the cultures are made on the consciousness of lives, and it is far made on the feeling of natural experiences.
the artistic feeling is also based upon this experiences of natural feeling, that is why it is common to all people of different places and ages. and in my feeling this feeling may be really based on human genes.
anyway the beautifulness of artistic objects as these tiles reminds me deep touching of original sensation.
