ciao josè, yes these ancient stone buildings aree indeed quite intriguing and the lack of people in them puzzling , too. the silence can be felt and yet the murmur of ancient characters may also be heard, if you strain your ears really hard. or maybe it is the wind singing an old song ... or a ghost form the past teeling a story... let us sit against a stonewall and close our eyes...let the sounds of ancient times flow and bring peace to our fatigued hearts

Yes, I can and I like what I hear! The silent breath of the ancient stones tells me that, when a job is well done like these old architectures, they resist at time and mode and remain the lone true witnesses of History. I hear the efforts of these poeple who built these villages with a minimum of tools and material and I have a great respect for their patience and know-how. These ancient stones have no need to cry to be listened, they keep the soul of the builders, their beauty breathes and time is stopping.

Great work with this conversion. I like the human element in your composition.

Dear Jose,

no matter if you're making photos in color or BW tones, they always have unique atmosphere, that makes me happy everytime you upload new one. Except great pov, my attention made this shadow coming from the left and discrete clouds on "blue-gray" sky. Lady in the distance is making this scene even more special. BEAUTIFUL! As usual! :-)

There is a great Humanity in your photo...not just because oF "nice lady" but also for all the composition. This a great tribute (for almost north and up center of Portugal) to those stone villages and to the people who live there. It´s beautiful but hard. To live for the Land and by the Land. This is a great photo because I can feel it and it´s very well done.
What i love more is the composition.Even when it has been hard Humanity resist and kept shinning. You got the Humanity Light.

Excellent view of the schist house in a great perspective. In my country most traditional houses are like this but the reason for moeving to the higher places was protection from the pirates.

this photo is indeed an invitation to the traveller (the physical and the psycological) to stop and savour the moment.
I love the high contrast you manage to capture here, there's a lot of black that underlines the stones and an absence of it in the sky, which makes it clear and open.
and the person walking out of the visual field makes the picture more interesting.

How interesting to see this kind of stone wall that really shows how man first build the dwelling unit, it resembles the stone cave!

What would the inside look like?

I would imagine the house look very simple and perhaps even wish to think the stone wall and roof can be replaced by palm leaves and wood and change the location to Borneo islands off Semporna for the Sea Bajau habitat.

Ah, ces pierres si elles pouvaient parler, elles nous conterait la vie difficile de ces habitants heureux peut être au début mais qui avec les difficultés furent obligés de laisser leurs maisons à l'abandon!!!
Le noir et blanc fait très bel, effet celui d'un village éloigné du monde et qui a perdu un peu de sa gaieté!!!
