WHat a coincidence Jose. I was just watching the 'Bicycles Thief' movie a week ago on cable TV. This is such a wonderful tribute to Vittorio De Sica, a favorite film director. The image indeed reminds me of the film. It has a nostagic feel to it and could very well be a period scene from the movie. My compliments and best regards...Danilo

Atmosphere, atmosphere...yes I loved Le Voleur de Bicyclettes in B&W and other films less known as le General della Rovere.This is a good shot with great Pov and colours and De Sica and neorealism are not very far.

Good subject, good composition, good sharpness and detail.

Personall I would go for a tighter crop, perhaps eliminating the foliage and the archway on the left to keep the shot simpler and more singleminded in its subject.

Ladri di biciclette is a movie that all Italians should see, to remember that not so many years ago we were a poor nation coming out of WW II as a devastated country, both physically and financially. all those fellow countrymen of mine who have become intolerant towards immigrants and consider themselves above the uncertainties and difficulties of life should travel back in time and see what we were.
I love the subdued colours and the lonely, almost forgotten bicycle. well done!

This is a lovely shot.
In a sense, exotic, makes you want to travel.
I like the composition, and the vibrant colours. I wish you would have included a bit more of that arch..it make me want to see more of it. I guess we all see things differently.

I remember seeing this film and it seems like centuries ago, when many italian films were very popular with stars like S Mangano,S Loren, and the other Vittorio, mostly black & whites. Really good movies.

You did a great job with the photo and also with the note, and I admit that the last paragraph of what it taught you is so apropos.

A nice tribute to a great personality and as usual a carefully combined note with a foto. I still use my bicycle on the everyday errands as my city is flat and using a car is pointless. In Great Gatsby in the beginning there's a similar idea, "before you criticize someone remember that not all had the same opportunities as you"

You know I just love this shot! There is something about the bicycle, sitting there, alone, parked that says a lot and adds a lot to the shot. Something about the light hitting the top of it that is so nice. I think without it it would just be an ordinary shot! Very well done Jose!
