[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is my very first self-portrait! Before joining TL i've never thought in doing this kind of photography... i was happy just walking around and shooting landscapes and buildings; sunsets and sunrises; clouds and trees...

... but i've never looked for the potencial that people have as a subject... now i've started to put more focus in people and portrait photography.

I feel i've just crossed the point of no return... I just want to learn more and more! and i'm couting with you.

I've decided to post this shot today for two main reasons:
1- Challenge made by Dawn (this is for you friend)
2- There's so many self-portraits in here, it wasn't fair that you didn't knew who's behind the camera that take the photos you critique!

Post-Production in PSP v9.0:
- Black tshirt agains white wall and natural light from the right side of me (left for you)
- Natural sweating (exercise)
- clarify (5x2)
- desaturate
- messed up the background to give extra interest without loosing the grip in me!
- clarify again

Great self portrait with the angled lighting. I find the expanse of background on the left a bit distracting and have added a workshop with a tighter crop.

Hi Mario, very nice self portrait. Very good pp work too. I also never thought I'd do a self portrait as I am not comfortable in front of the camera. Then TL just sucks you in and you do it anyway... I've done many things I'd never thought I'd do since joining here. It has been a fun ride !

i'm glad you decided to make a self-portait. it has become beautifull. i like the way you look into thje camera. you make contact with the viewer and that's great. i also like the light! the framing is excellent to, makes it intresting and the background is well chosen it gives that raw feeling that combines great with you face. just great!!

very intensive look... naturaly - your eyes are brown...
But the way, how you look at the camera makes this look more intensive...

Nice to see ya buddy :) This is a very good self portrait. I like how you only show half your face and put it on the far right.

My suggestions here are that you crop a bit more off the top (because of the crop right under the hairline your forehead looks too big), and off the right (the shadow doesn't add much IMO).

This face belongs to a dawn:-), tired but very determined. Strong light shows us all patrs of this face. Reasons for make seffportraits are always greta. Yoor too.

First of all, I'm pleased to meet you. There have been many self portraits on this site, but I think this one has to be one of the best. Your pose and the look in your eye has strong connections to the viewer. Of course, the stubble of your beard adds a roughness to the texture of your face, and that I like a lot. ótima definição, e o enquadramento no lado direito deu um equilibrio interessante para a foto :) é legal ver quem está por trás das fotos. Eu na verdade costumo tirar autos retratos quando eu não tenho nada pra fazer e não tem ninguém para pasar para uma foto.. hehe

Oh, I remember seeing this picture in the gallery...I thought somebody took a pic of Antonio Banderas (lol!)...honestly, I am not into portraits (yet), but yours might be the best one on this site. Actually, I should put this under 'comment', because there is nothing to 'critique'!

Yes it is,...
I ones posted a pic of her flipt bough sites and put back.
So te 2 parts of her nose were on the outsite of the pic.
After it i yoused the part thing no more.
But you can say that it atracts and maks people look better.

I've recently (after many years) just started some self-portraiture myself. This is a fine example. Rugged yet not over the top after your work in PS. Striking composition and straight to the point with eye contact. Very impressive.

Hello Mario, Thanks for critiqing my pic. I will post a workshop of the unaltered picture and see if you like that better. I am returning the favor critiqing this pic. I think you look like antonio banderes. I like the softness of the colors while the image itself is very sharp with good depth of field. I keep looking for your other eye ;) Very nice.
