Where tourists don't wander..

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
When I want to visit and learn about a city, I usually don't stick to the routes and views recommended by the brochures and guides. That gives me a more realistic view and sometimes leads to unexpected discoveries. On a shortcut nearby the castle and the Alfama-area I stumbled (you can take that literally, as there was no pavement) upon a few houses that were clearly to be demolished soon. Still occupied though, as I could see clothes drying outside the window. The graffiti was (for once) rather artful, and the decolouration and flakes on the rusty door looked atractive to me (inspired by some aquarel-works I had seen of similar subjects). Perhaps I'll post more of this later.

I agree Walter, it's nice to get off the beaten track - these pictures are more illuminating on the true look of a country. Thanks for sharing the PP technique - very effective on this subject.
Hi Walter,
I love this pic..very realistic.Agree with you completely about going out of the standard touristic routs, do it myself whenever I can.The colours are so natural, I truly enjoy looking at them.
regards,
M.

Nice contrast between the old destructed building and the modern tag.
Nice general atmosphere.

Boa foto Walter. São mesmo os locais de Lisboa não visitados. Parabéns pelo registo!
More realistic that what you have seen it's dificult... It's one of the problems that my city has...
Good Work...
Beautiful shot. I am fond of photographing doors and windows! I like the feel of this dilapidated scene! Could contrast maybe have been increased to give it a darker feel? Very good!
