Back to my Moldavian Monasteries series; another postcard with my best wishes from Romania.

The monastery's name implies that it was once a hermitage and in fact a hermit called Antonie and his apprentices in 1655 built the first church. In 1824 Metropolitan Veniamiti Costachi rebuilt the church in stone. The church is surrounded by a stonewall incorporating a bell tower, both from 1825. The monastery is famous for an icon of a miracle-working icon of the Virgin. Sihastria was also the last home of Ilie Cleopa one of the great confessors of Romanian Orthodoxy who was canonized in 1998.

Ma uit la poza asta a ta, care e foarte frumoasa, si imi dau seama ca sa fie foarte frumoasa nu e suficient aici, unde sunt multe poze frumoase. Ca proba, aceasta poza foarte reusita a fost apreciata doar cu 6 puncte, ceea ce e clar sub media ta. Lumea vrea mortis chestii nu doar frumoase, ci care sa fie cat mai iesite din comun. Nu e usor sa le atragi atentia.
Asta nu impiedica aceasta poza sa fie, cum am zis, foarte reusita.
