Just great, I like these kind of image where you recognise the subject but presenting in a special way. Here the swirl effect is just ok, in my POV better than your other image where is too "swirly".

That is a weird effect for the plant. Love the sepia tone, as you said sometimes nature looks good like this!

Absolutely wonderful job you've done here, Ioana! Excellent composition with good amount of negative space. The swirl is a great idea and very well executed. Hope you don't mind me nicking the idea sometime :-)
Just to nitpick.. I'd probably be tempted to even out the background behind the swirl so that the bg isn't swirled (if you see what I mean).
