Sighisoara Scale Schools

Whether you follow the main axis of the city (School Street), or as we follow the line of fortifications, building or from the left or right of the Clock Tower, the steps appear to lead us to one place: on the slope "tunnel" for wood the original scale of school (built in 1654 by Johann Both Mayor care to facilitate access for students during heavy winters, the school situated near the church) to lead the upper plateau of the hill fortress, where are located the church and school house .

The end of the street Scolarilor steep staircase awaits us schoolboys, a rarity in the citadel, built in 1654 by Mayor Johann Botha, to ease access to school pupils on the upper plateau of Citadel Hill. Initially, the scale of wood shingle had 300 steps, today it consists of 175 steps, interrupted by wide platforms. Once upstairs, without any hurry, this picturesque staircase, like a tunnel through the wooden slats whose slanting sunlight penetrate, if we have luck to be beautiful weather, get on top of the hill, where is the old Gothic church and the school gymnasium Gospel. There are some days when tourists ascent is accompanied by sounds like the old days off of any singer who is heard from somewhere, very far. As we approach the end of the tunnel dazzling sounds are becoming more real: the last step of the stairs to show the contours of a native, singing to a guitar. In return, we go down the slope lane ladder that brings the point home - School Street.

Hello Oana,
Good to see that you are experimenting with b&w and sepia. The lights coming our of wooden slats are attractive, there is a good lead-in, and the woodwork atop provides handsome graphism. Regrads.

Sepia adds to the antic feel that impregnates this historic wooden structure , good choice here , gee i might try this on my own pic and your view is as good as mine , lol ,thanks for reminding me about my own ascent some weeks ago , i still recall coming to the top and visiting the church and graveyard, what a great day !
I like the persons at the end of the tunnel , it can not hurt to have them in the frame as i don't think it would have a better impact without them ,
a good one Oana,
Carol

Good POV and great use of light, shadow, and the b&w treatment in this shot. It gives an excellent sense of 'being there,' and must have been a familiar sight to thousands of people for generations!
Nice subtle work with the framing in this one, too.

dear Oana,
a beautiful perspective in the wonder woody tunnel,
this darkness surrounded the light makes very suggestive picture.
in my feeling, we are not free like in this tunnel,
the light is only from the slits of walls,
always the freedom is only seen at distant exit,
thank you,
Akihisa

Bonjour Oana.
Une image désaturée parfaitement réussite avec un excellent contraste.
La ligne fiente est aussi bien réalisée.

Bonne journée.

Beautiful light and shadows ......
Well done
Best regards
Mitko:)

My friend Oana,

This is a wonderful shot.
The well chosen POV has added points and a mysterious effect to this photo.
You have captured very well the shadows and the sunbeams between the old planks.
Finally including some human figures in the scene helps reveal the size of the this tunnel.

Best Regards,
Constantinos
