This is the 20000th picture I have taken with the Sony digital camera that I bought in the spring of 2004 before a summer trip to Latvia and Poland. I know because this is the second time that the file names reached 9999 and started over. :)
I didn't realize until later that this was my 20000th picture, but at the time that I was taking this, my friends were commenting about how beat-up my camera looks. I told them that this little camera has been through a lot, including skiing in the Swiss Alps, bicycling across Holland, and riding boats in Vienna. I would much rather have a beat-up camera that has been everywhere, than have a nice-looking camera that missed all the good shots because I left it somewhere safe. :)
I took this picture at an Orthodox monastery in Sinaia. This is the ceiling of a little entryway to a small building that was locked. My friends told me that this art is a distinctively Romanian style, more realistic than art from the same period in churches of other countries. |
