[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hi TL Friends,

This is the second image from the “Dee Saturated” Series. Once again taken from my stay in Bucharest, whilst I was walking around the HUGE park & lake called Herastrau.
So, for this week only, I’ll be presenting you a small series of these photos which I’ve called “Dee Saturate” for you to enjoy!

On a side note, it seems like there is a mixed reaction regarding this type of photography. Then again, we (I) need some diversity and at times, we can’t please every one (^_^).
I just like to say, that this is one style of photography which I enjoy and like to share with you. (^_^)

DIGITAL WORKFLOW
1)Converted to B&W
2)Duplicated Layer & added a Layer mask
3)Using a brush, return colour to select areas
4)Sharpened
5)Framed

If there is no change and no experimenting and no creativity everything becomes boring. That's for me in any case. So, yes this is different but great. The textures in the sand becomes so much stronger like this. I just wonder if you only had the black frame and not the white inside if it wouldn't have a stronger contrasting effect that emphasizes the photo more. (that is a very clumsy sentence hope it makes sense)

Nice composition with good sharpness & framing. I'm agree with John " what I admire always uis when people search
for new ways".
Well done.

wow great shot. so unusual and dirty:) Super!

I am also always pushing the boundaries and challenge the camera, film, but mostly myself, in this image the selective colour works, thanx, M, (*_*)

I like diversity Costas. It is good to change our photo styles, we need to be stretched. That is why our ISO Day was good for us. But I don't know much about BW, so I think it is something I will try soon.
This looks good, the mess in the mud suits the BW style, making the water look even dirtier.
Keep sharing, and who cares about points?
But here's some from me...

Hi Constantinos

I like the minimalist colour & partial desaturation. The faded red looks good here. Tfs!

Hello Constantinos,
I like your composition too!
And I could not agree more to what you say in the note, some times our experiments come out as successes, some times not...
You achieve a great feeling of depth here, making the subject really stand out!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hi Constantinos,
This is a very nice composition, and this photo was well suited for this type of work which add a dramatic look to it. Very well done.

If the tile tells us the way you convert to B&W then you are using not the best method
The two easiest ways are greyscale and desaturation. I rarely use these 2 methods though because they usually produce a flat image with low contrast
What I really love about old fashion B&W photography is the great dept and contrast they can provide
Hue/Saturation Adjustment layer
simply using several Hue/saturation adjustment layers.
This means that you can go back and alter the effect at anytime + you never make any change to the original image. At your original picture layer go to Layer - New Adjustment layer - Hue/Saturation. Then just click OK without altering any of the settings - and then change the layer mode from Normal to Color.
Then add a new Hue/Saturation Adjustment layer - but this time turn down the Saturation to -100 before you click OK. Now the fun begins.
Double click the first Hue/Saturation Adjustment layer you made (the color mode one) and then adjust the effect on the picture by sliding the Hue bar until you get an effect you're satisfied with. You can also then adjust the saturation bar to even adjust some more.Duplicate the Hue/Saturation Adjustment layer (still the color mode one) by dragging it down to the Create New Layer tab . Now change the layer mode on this new adjustment layer from Color to Overlay, and then drag down the opacity a little.

Nice pic! Have you done any "people" this way...maybe just their eyes colored?? B-)
points tomorrow!
Linda

hi constantinos,
one of my favorite post-processing techniques as well, this works for making a single subject stand out. it gives a certain mood to it. about the photo, i like the compostion of the sand, the buoy and the treeline. the sky was flat although it's minor. tfs.

Hi Con
Its razor sharp..its very diffrent from your overall work.. but what I admire always uis when people search
for new ways. (for me.. I wait a few *_^ ) TFS

Trouble is Constantinos, there have been times when I have stepped out of the comfort zone and been severely criticized for it. If this type of image was not wanted then why have an HPP area?. Well done mate, seems you are just as apt as finding this 'junk' as I am. I am now wondering if that lake is fed by river and why such a large buoy is sitting in mud. Well done on the PP work and the overall presentation. TFS,
Dave

Good PP work to create the partial desaturated (or should that be partially coloured?) picture. I'm a huge fan of this style, so look forward to seeing more of your experiments. The b&w in this picture adds something to the feeling of dirt and grime, but I'm not sure the colour is striking enough (although the muted colour does fit in with the b&w).
Thanks for sharing

Experimental images are always a challenge, I think your second image in the series is interesting and you have done commendable PP work.
