soviet/stalinist architecture borrowed like many other good and bad things from USA. each time I see this ugly ‘monument of national liberty’ - built by forced labor workers before ‘the wall’ in berlin - some kind of chilly wind crosses my bones.

ps.Poza e cam mica si cam zgomotoasa.
pps.cred ca exagerezi nitel cu titlul si cu nota

Magnifique contre jour avec un ciel superbe.

Hi Cal,
This is a wonderful photo of your capital city my friend. Perfect lighting I would say and the silhouette of the 'ugly monument' is nicely captured. And if you ask me: yes, the cold war is over, lets build a peaceful world together!
Hans

hi

Hi Cal,
Great silhouette against the dramatic and beautiful sky! I like the movement and colors of clouds and the luminous reflections. Very well done! Annie

Interesanta atmosfera sumbra ai prins! Imi place atit compozitia cit si nuantsele cerului. Dar ce ai impotriva Casei Scinteii? ;-)

numai bine,
Cristian

Hello CAl!

Welcome ( late ) to TL . I wish you hours of fun on this interactive site. You captured well the spectacular sky and reflections. The cityscape is well presented , with the monument against the well lighted BG.
Well done !
Robert

Hi Cal...
This is a very beautiful shot. The contrasts and tones are excellent. Story sad... George

Well I personally don't think this monument is ugly, but the PP certainly transfers your opinion about the place... cold, full of dismay etc.

I think the sky looks great... as if it's moving, transferring pollution etc. Perfect PP work.

Biance.

Hi Cal,
I am now revisiting some of you earlier photos, before looking at your last one "on the move" - and have not finished !
There is something icy and chilling here, never saw this building but similar ones in Poland and of course, the 7 sisters in Moscow... To me, they don't evoque fear, just awe by their hugeness and a certain time in architecture : probably a maze of lost rooms inside !
But about your photo : yes it is a mood photo as you indicate, also with the title - the atmosphere is sombre, don't find the correct words in English, but I like the restraint in the colours for this particular shot.
Bravo,
Have a nice day,
Cath.
(PS : thank you for the link, I'll meditate about the lines :
"Hyperion started. His wings/ Brought him up into the sky,/
And the way of millennia/ He crossed in seconds.//
A sky of stars below,/ A sky of stars above,/
He looked like an unbroken flash/ Lost among them." : very inspiring, thank you !)

Great sunset and great shot. I love colour tones in it. greetings/selamlar,

Hi Cal. I wanted to start at the beginning so to speak. Luckily I live in a small city where the tallest structures are either microwave dishes of church spires. You captured this well, nicely composed, ominous colour and very good detail. TFS,
David

Many thanks for your comment on ‘Geographe Bay Sunset’
