[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Cristina is a very kind and caring person. I remember her trying to help everyone around her and hiding her emotions... sometimes, maybe too well.

The costume she's wearing in this photo comes from the Northern part of Romania and is almost 100 years old.
Some of the motifs used in decorating Cristina's clothing were tattooed on her ancestors' skin, about 8000 years ago...
This memory of her is just two years old... and it seems to me I took this shot yesterday.
Timetravel can be fun!

I started pp with a poor quality picture, in fact it's a fragment from a spontaneous photo, taken during an agricultural

ceremonial.
-cropped, resized, sharpened;
-decreased brightness and increased contrast;
-duplicated background layer, mirrored and repositioned;
-desaturated left side and changed the color balance to achieve the desired sepia effect;
-faded left side into the background;
-selectively decreased the exposure of the costume's white parts (but there still is some visible overexposure left)
-applied frame;

This is a reconditioned photo, but aren't our memories going through a similar process?

Wonderful tribute to your friend Cristina! I think the mirroring effect with half in desat sepia and the other in color is very unique and creative. The afternoon lighting hitting her from the right is really beautiful, although I am afraid that the overexposure on her white sleeves and part of the skirt are tough to fix with pp. I would be curious to see this shot only in the color version on the right, since I find the mirroring tends to make the "reflection" of Cristina compete with instead of compliment the color version. BUT I think the mirroring really gets the memorial message across...bah, I am sorry I am not so eloquent today :P. The composition(s) are excellent, with her pose at the side, making a circular motion through the shot on each side. Good faded frame at the edges is very suitable for a memorial shot. I can't believe she wore such an old dress! Wonderful way to show pride in your heritage ;).
