The strangest thing just happenned...I tried to upload this picture at the usual size 800/600 but for some strange reason I got the message that the image should be no larger than 800/205!? I'm sorry if the posting is too small...I had to resize it at 700/550, otherwise TL wouldn't receive it...I did get this message before, for the size of the ws but not for a usual upload. I'm sincerely puzzled! :)

Inspired by Dream Theater's track:

"Lifting shaddows off a dream"
("Awake" album, 1994)

"He seems alone and silent
thoughts remain without an answer
Afraid and uninvited
he slowly drifts away

Moved by desire and fear
Breaking delicate wings

Lifting shadows
off a Dream once broken
She can turn a drop of water
Into an ocean

As the rain is pouring down
Tears of sorrow wash his mind
Drifting with the current
This stream of life flows on

He seems alone and silent
waiting on his hands and knees
The chill of winter's darkness sits quietly

Moved by desire and fear
he takes a few steps away

Lifting shadows
off a Dream once broken
She can turn a drop of water
Into an ocean

And she listens openly

He pours his soul into the water
reflecting the mystery
She carries him away
and the winds die slowly

And she listens openly
And she listens openly

Lifting shadows
off a Dream once broken
She can turn a drop of water
Into an ocean

Lifting Shadows off a Dream
Lifting Shadows off a Dream"

Image processing...oh, God, where do I start? ...there's so much this image has suffered/endured :) original
I'm trying to remember everything I did. I appologize if I'm not able to write the steps in order...at least I'm trying... :)

a. Adobe Photoshop
1. Levels
2. Brightness/contrast
3. Clone tool
4. Smudge tool
5. Color balance
6. Crop
7. Burn tool

b. PhotoScape
1. Antique photo filter
2. Frame

...and it all ends with resize and upload. Whew!

Thank you Jean Paul,
japiey for the PhotoScape gift!

Hi Diana,
Excellent posting creative art work and a fine note. Like this kind of artistic images on TL, thanks for that.
Regarding the dimentions: if you resized with keeping the aspect ratio and you take the larges side (here it is the width) to maximum 800 pix it can't go wrong. You will get an picture with the dimentions of 800x629 pix Although the size here (700x550) isn't disturbing at all in my opinion.

HI Diana
Its remarkable what you did to transform this photo.
From looking at water dripping I think it now looks like a flaming melted candle.
Great shot and PP work

Interesant efectulul post procesarii, arata foarte abstract, daca nu vedeam originalul, nu ma gandeam ce poate fii, pare o flacara la prima vedere. :-)

hi Diana,
have you ever thought of using photoshop for some of your pics?
;)

i love what you have done here. the original is so far removed from this. fantastic.

unfortunately i have never heard of the song or artist. could this be because i am an old man?

Hello, Diana -
I see you have been busy while I was away on vacation. I have some catching up to do in your gallery. This one really caught my eye; I was really impressed with this image, particularly after comparing the original. Very imaginative and riveting image. Well-conceived and executed. Nice work!

Hi,
very creative shot, great mood!
well done

Armel.

Howdy Black Dream Ivory!
Amazing composition. Fantastic effect. Great work. Very original take.
Regards!

Nice photo and nice effect
Sabina

Ok!! ... Fisrt thing it catch the eyes... As i explore the gallery i stop here... Haa! Very different.. Weird... What is it... I come to see in real size... Let's say it's non figurative, abstraction... Nooo? Really!? Of course i don't bring a great revelation till now...

Funny how i simply enjoy the movement. But i imagine at first you did all the ripples digitally and adding some paint lines with light effect. I could do something near using a radial zoom blur effect combine to some other effect.

But with the original in workshop... Ho finally it was a natural effect that you add some finish! I prefer that :)
Great work!
