This is the old version of your msn/yahoo/etc. Inbox. I like so much these ‘old’ details. Imagine how many letters and stories went through it. Hmmm stories....this might be the one. It’s Valentine’s today, so let’s make it romantic ;D...

Through this ‘mailbox’, a very young gentleman, up to his ears in love with the pretty daughter of the tenants, every night leaves a love letter that she, knowing what awaits her, finds it early in the mornings, rushing to the door impatiently before her parents wake up.
However, it happened once, maybe because of the slight shiver caused by a vision of his sweet angel asleep all alone in her soft bed, or maybe because of that stupid, ugly, big wrist watch that his mother insisted on buying him for his birthday, or maybe both, well it happened this night that his hand just got STUCK while delivering his love token.
Now, that wouldn’t have been a big problem, if Alas! that very night, the young lady’s father, proud owner of a doberman very appropriately named Brutus, didn’t unleash his faithful dog; and he did so because he had been reported by a sweet old lady living next door, whose job (and a tremendous pleasure) was to meticulously monitor, 24-hours-a-day, and far more efficiently than any SpyWare programme of today, anything that moves in the neighbourhood. She said that, cross-her-heart hope-to-die, she had been seeing a huge, hunched-back bearded man with a wooden leg and the biggest knife she had seen in her life (that’s our young hero), sneaking around their house every night.

So...Brutus was a well-trained doggy, he saw the poor stuck gentleman, jumped at him and...oooouchhh!!

Well...let’s just say that in the next several days our loverboy wasn’t able to sit on the bench next to his sweetheart without making a grimace; to her worried questions he would humbly answer he has been haunted by sudden, extremely painful thoughts of losing her love. After which, hundreds of sweet, passionate, reassuring kisses would befall his nice, blushing, and out of pain slightly distorted, face.

So, you see. Love indeed can hurt sometimes...but Hey! isn’t it worth it?! ;D

Oh, yes, Happy Valentine!!

LOL... Indeed, a fantastic example of how much love can hurt us sometimes... lol... Wonderful and funny story... and romantic.... :))
As for your photo, I think it's beautiful in its presentation and sharpness. I like that sepia look; it enhances that old feeling. :) Lovely composition and story! Very well done :)

ps. Happy Valentine's Day to you, too... :)

no comment to photo girl but happy Valentine to you and your friend! + friendly kisses from vienna city

Haha, a great note! :))) So romantic, as well as your photo when you look at it after reading a note.
Just don't know whether that barrel distortion of the lens helped here or ruined the mood. Or just nevermind :)
Nice post, have a nice day!

Oh, Marija, you're making me laugh again! What a weird story - especially the part about the watch that his mother made him wear! Definitely a stream-of-consciousness composition, wasn't it? LOL

Good to see you in a good mood, and feeling playful. :) The letter slot is certainly a fancy one! The details show up well, although I might have cropped it at the scalloped section of the door/wall/whatever it is - just a thought.

You're too much, girl! Thanks for the laugh.

Beautiful photograph. Beautiful (and slightly unseatable) story in the note. The composition is just perfect. The colour and placing of the mailbox wonderfully evocative. They don't make them like this anymore! Neither the love, nor the patience, nor the design. And of course, these days we have what we call 'Inbox' - the 'Mailbox' alas, no longer draws us, as it used to.

Interesting story, to say the least. I’m happy that the parents no longer have this kind of control in our actual eastern culture.

Very nice photo. The soft filter makes it romantic and appropriate for your intent. Good idea to flip it.
If it was yours, I would use it. I know how much you enjoy actual letter and the principal around it. Perhaps with some of my cologne on it. ;o)

Superb note. I can't compete with that!!!
Superb image to go with it, too, and even an OFF-white frame, which is really cool!
Very clear. The detail is excellent.
Congratulations on another winner. Manila Jury say "Yeah!" and send you a full 10.

Perfect subject for Valentine's Day. Good composition and lighting. Well done.

Great story to go with this very romantic look image. Great textures. I think you should make a big poster out of it. Well done!

Hello Marija... I do like the details on the composition... On the right side; the details creates amazing contrast with the white areas... Great work...

Can

What a "lovely" mailbox, Marija, stemming from an era when quite ordinary things were well worth to make artful. The accent of the sharply displayed mailbox is well contrasted by the vague patterns in the door.

I like the composition!Beautiful lines and patterns! It is clever to be B&W picture!Thank's for sharing.
