| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
The Bath White (Pontia daplidice) is a small butterfly of the family Pieridae, the Yellows and Whites, which occurs in the Palearctic region. It is common in central and southern Europe, migrating northwards every summer, often reaching southern Scandinavia and sometimes southern England.
Foodplants
Mignonettes (Reseda spp.) and various crucifers are used. In Britain and Ireland, Wild Mignonette (Reseda lutea), Hedge Mustard (Sisymbrium officinale), and Sea Radish (Raphanus raphanistrum) have all been recorded as foodplants.
Open and disturbed habitats, such as roadside verges, cultivated and derelict ground, are often used for breeding in continental Europe. Adults are highly mobile and can be seen in almost any type of habitat. |
