Пећка патријаршија:
Црква Богородице ОдигитријеХрам посвећен Богородици Одигитрији саграђен је око1330. године по налогу пећког архиепископа и угледног књижевника Данила II. Подигнуг је сајужне стране матичне цркве Светих Апостола и представља пандан Светом Димитрију. Својом архитектуром разликује се задужбине архиепископа Никодима. Богородичин храм има основу развијеног уписаног крста, па стога осмострану куполу носе слободни ступци. Како би одговарала дотада већ подигнутим здањима, црква Богородице се својом спољашњошћу не истиче посебно у оквиру црквене целине: зидови од камена и опеке су малтерисани и потом украшени орнаменталном сликаном декорацијом која је доста пропала, али се још увек разазнају орнаментални фризови, розете и крстови. Купола је нешто нижа и шира у основи него што је у то доба био обичај. У унутрашњости слободни ступци деле храм по уздужној оси на три дела, те образују три целине.

Лепи дводелни прозор - бифора - у готичком стилу на источној страни цркве вероватно је накнадно постављен, али свакако убрзо после градње. Независно од тога и он се, као и друга готичка бифора на јужној фасади, складно уклапа у архитектонску целину.
У северо-западном углу цркве налази се велики саркофаг од ружичастог мермера, у коме су почивале мошти ктитора - архиепископа Данила II. На предњој, највидљивијој страни поклопца саркофага исклесана је у средини, под слепом аркадицом, представа Приуготовљеног престола, која симболизује други Христов долазак и суђење на Страшном суду. У другим слепим аркадицама на поклопцу и на самом саркофагу приказани су крстови на степенастим постољима.

The Church of the Virgin Hodegitria
The Church of the Virgin Hodegitria was commissioned by Danilo II, the Archbishop of Pec and a distinguished writer, and constructed about 1330. It was built south of the mother church, the Church of the Apostles, and is a counterpart of the Church of St. Demetrius. Its architecture differs from that of Archbishop Nikodim's foundation. The Church of the Virgin has the ground plan in the form of a developed inscribed cross; hence the octogonal dome is supported by free-standing pillars. The outward appearance of the church is well harmonised with the other buildings; its walls built of bricks and stone were plastered over and then adorned with painted decoration, which is considerably damaged, but ornamental friezes, rosettes and crosses can still be seen. The dome is somewhat lower and broader at base than usual at that time. The interior space is longitudinally divided into three sections by free-standing pillars.
The attractive bipartite window in the Gothic style on the east side of the church was probably built in subsequently, but not long after the construction. In spite of that, this window, like another bipartite Gothic window on the south facade, harmonises well with the architectural whole.
The large sarcophagus made of pale red marble, which contained the relics of the founder, Archbishop Danilo u stands in the north-west corner of the church. A representation of the Preparation of the Throne, symbolising the second coming of Christ and the Last Judgement, is carved under the small blind arcarde in the middle of the front most visible side of the lid of the sarcophagus. Crosses on stepped bases are represented in the other blind arcades on the lid and on the sarcophagus itself. |
