Hello dear friends,

this might be the last upload from me for a while, but from nice reasons. What kept me busy for the last few months was my work as a mentor for students talented for English language. They had a competition yesterday, and won the first 3 places! We are all happy for this (unexpected) success, but now we have to practice even more for further upcoming competition on higher level, so I'll have to 'neglect' photography for a while. I'll visit TL occassionally in the evenings to do some critiquing though.

Anyhow, this is the detail of one of the most beautiful and important monasteries in Serbia, and quite near my town. It was built in the 15th century by one of the Serbian kings. It was also an important educational centre. The location is beautiful - on a mountain, surrounded by a forest and a huge stone wall.
I liked the door itself, and the symbols of the sun and the moon above it. The texture of the walls (marble) looks oversharpened, but it really is like that. I'll try and upload two more photos as WS to show you.

See you around!

Hi Marija,

Lovely photo!
Great detail and texture of the door and wall! Warm and rich colours that make your composition very vivid! The POV is very nice here!
Very well done!

Constantinos

Congrats for the success Marija!!! I hope we don't have to wait too long for your next post though! :)
Nice old door! The details are well seen as always on your photos!! :) Recently I'm working with pictures of windows and doors at work so I have to do a lot of correction on them! That's why I made a WS for you how I'd put it on a card or poster! I hope you don't mind! :)
Cheers
ToM

Hello Marija,
One recognizes a good Master when it is exceeded by his best pupils! Your anecdote points out to me the challenge that there is to coatch a group in a competition. Cheer with you. The professors are not always thanked with their right value!
I like much this splendid door. Your photo presents to us with fidelity all the colours acquired with time and its very attractive textures. Bravo and quickly return us! Annie

Congratulations to you and your students, Marija. What a wonderful compliment to you. And I know you're excited about more practice! ;)

Love these wonderful textures! So many beautiful old buildings there. You're lucky.

Take care, hon.
Gayle :)

Hi Marija.
another door to another world, just waiting for us to step through to something better or just different?
Nicely seen, good detail ( looks like Olive wood?)
Congratulations on your achievement with your students, its always nice when something goes well and you have had an input into it. Whats the next step for them and presumably you?
Best wishes
Rob :))

Congratulations on your achievement! I know how important students' results are for a teacher.
I just love the stone textures and the sun and moon carving. And what could that little flower-circle between them be?
Good luck wit hthe contests,
Bebe

I don't give a monkey's about the perspective so-called distortion - to me it adds. The important element here is the clarity of the subject's colours and textures and the actual content. That old step is gorgeous.
"I don't give a monkey's" - old Brit expression. Sorry. Means I don't care in the slightest.
Stay connected! Be proud. Congrats to your students and to you.

I love those old stones and its colours and textures. The door has some mistery air.

Good work,

Enric.

Another excellent photo Marija, showing great contrasts and textures. Congratulations and all the best with your student work, and I look forward to more photos from you soon.

COngrats and the best of luck Marija. I'm with you. Those kids are very fortunate to have you. Make sure you tell them that from me. ;oD

Lovely shot perhaps a little tilted on the letf?
However, the sharpness of the texture is great. Viva la Nikon!

See you soon!

Ben.
