Срећан Божић - ХРИСТОС СЕ РОДИ!

Christmas is celebrated throughout the Christian population...
Christmas, also referred to as Christmas Day or Christmastide, is an annual holiday usually falling on December 25 or January 7 for Oryhodox that honors and celebrates the birth of Jesus of Nazareth. His birth, which is the basis for the transcultural Western calendar, has been determined by modern historians as having occurred between 8–4 BC, and is traditionally told to have taken place within a stable in the city of Bethlehem.

Some of Christianity like a Serbian, celebrate Christmas on January 7, as January 7 would correspond to December 25 using the Julian calendar.

Modern customs of the holiday include gift-giving, church celebrations, and the display of various decorations—including the Christmas tree, lights, mistletoe, nativity scenes and holly. The jolly mythological figure Santa Claus (or Father Christmas) is also a large part of Christmas, whereas he is traditionally believed by billions of children as being a bringer of gifts on or before Christmas Day. Santa is generally believed to be the result of the syncretization of select elements from Nordic and Christian mythology, and owes his modern appearance mostly to 19th century media.

Niti prave slave bez Božića!"

Od dana Hristovog rođenja započinje hrišćanska era i od tog dana hrišćanski narodi, a i ostali svet, počinju brojati godine.

Za spomen rođenja Hristova, još od apostolskih vremena, ustanovljen je veliki praznik - Božić. Sveti Jovan Zlatousti kaže da je Božić izvor svih hrišćanskih praznika, jer da nije bilo Hristovog rođenja, ne bi bilo ni krštenja, ni vaskrsenja, ni drugih.

Da bi se hrišćani dostojno pripremili za Božić ustanovljen je post od 28. decembra do 6. januara uveče (odnosno od 15. novembra do 24. decembra), koji nije tako strog kao Uskršnji. On odgovara zimskom, godišnjem odmoru. Međutim, Božić, ma u koji dan pao, mrsni je dan.

Na ikoni se Hristovo rođenje predstavlja pećinom u kojoj se nalaze jasle, Presveta Bogorodica sa Josifom i novorođeni Isus. Pastiri se klanjaju, a sjajna zvezda svojom svetlošću osvetljava novorođenog Hrista. Na visini lete anđeli, za jasle su privezane mazge, a jagnje je u prvom planu.

O Božiću ljudi se, umesto uobičajenog pozdrava, pozdravljaju sa:
"Hristos se rodi" i "Vaistinu se rodi"!

I had to do a crash course in Cyrillic script, when I went to Russia, in July, & was surprised that I can still recognise some of the charachters here. Good sharpness & text placement, & tfs!
