hi slavica.
your image is rather small. it also appears to be over sharpened and it is difficult to see the edges of the petals.
it's a pity as the rose looks quite nice.

'for justice, against tyranny'
a strange sentiment considering roses are as well known for their thorns as they are for their flowers.

Red can be a good colour but in my humble opinion this doesn't really do it any favours at all.

The red hue is quite weak and looks faded to me - it's also lacking in definition or sharpness. The Powershot should be able to deliver a better result than this, did you crop it from a larger shot??

Best thing about this shot is probably the way you've framed it, the subject itself is poorly presented. Sorry!

Red can be beautiful, Slavica, just like other colours can be...
However, I have to second Rew here. This red rose looks dull, without much nuance. And the nuance we see rather resembles a form of pixellation than the real and natural textures of rose petals.
Your crop cannot convince me either. I would have left more space on the top and less on the bottom. Now, the rose looks a bit "crushed" against the top border of your photo.
Finally, I must echo comments that have been made about your note. I personally don't care whether a photo has a note or not, but when there is one, I often read it and at least, I hope to discover some sense in it. Here, the link between a red rose and your statement against tiranny is quite amazing. Knowing that tirannies have often caused needless shedding of blood, I would have expected a white, rather than a red rose.
But I guess that's just me. So, feel free to (dis)agree ;o).

The red theme is becoming borish. The pic is too small, over sharpened, the plea is ridiculous! This is a photo site, not a political stage.
