HI Marija,
Very nice self portrait. Your eyes and the look are very attractive...
However, the foreground is a bit overexposed. I mean too overexposed. IMO it's distracting... I would like to appreciate the colors of the roof...
Anyway, I like this one.
See you
Denis
Hello Marija!
It's nice to meet you finally! And what a wonderful portrait you've choosen to introduce yourself! The lighting is fantastc, the colors are amazing!
I'm glad to put a face on the creator of such creative pictures! TFS
i like this one, Maria. not because you're in the photo but more so because the background is just so nice with the backlighting. quite difficult to take under these lighting conditions but it turned out well! great...
Hi Marija,
Very nice self-portrait..
I especially like the grain/noise that's appeared on the photo..
I do feel the background is overexposed, the outline of your left arm makes it quite evident.
I'd love to do a workshop on this..
You have a good week ahead too..
Cheers!
~Ashish
Hello,Marija! This is a very nice selfportrait! I like it very much and the guy that showed up on the back during the shooting was indeed a very good accident! It adds a very special touch to the feelings of that picture! Bravo! Michel
Hi Marija,
Nice self portrait. I find the shadows/light over your face fantastic. The background light on the door it's a little over exposed.
Be well,
António
P.S. I'm at office now, but when i get home i will try a WS
Wow Marija! You are a very pretty lady! :)
It's a nice self-portrait. The lighting is indeed very nice. The sparks in your eyes really brighten up the whole shot. Also, good choice of including the man in the background (It would be nice without too), as the shot has more story about it. It could be your boyfriend and you had a fight(no pun intended:) and also gives more details about the DOF.
I did a small workshop. Nothing great. I just ran it through Neat image. cya
Excellent self-portrait you have chosen the right spot for the lighting because it is very good.
Hey Marija!!! Nice to meet you!!! :)) I'm glad you get into this. Last time you told me to be 'harsh' - when I feel like - commenting your pix. I thought "OK Marija, be ready for my next comment!!!!!" and now I'm here looking at your eyes and ... I can't be harsh.... because I love this pic! Yes the bright part is overexposed but it gives the splash for the photo!! :)) It balances the other part... Well done.. You should do it more often! :)) cheeeeeers

i like the lighting and contrast on your face Marija :) the man in the background doesn't bother me
What I like is the setup. The dark image in the back. This is really balancing the photo. I have the feeling that you not sharp after resizing. Good photo but the technical quality is not that good >124k ?. will help. Making a photo is 1 computers and technique is 2 we have to do it all on TL
You are really brave indeed, Marija! I don't know if I would ever be able to do self-portrait; let alone in a public place! And I must admit that your bravery really paid off.
I know a lot of people have said that the background was overexposed but, don't ask me why, I kind of like it that way apart from a small purple line on your arm. I think it makes you stand-out more and adds some mood as I think with the man going out it could mean that you had a fight with him and he is disappearing without ever coming back.
For the rest, I like your pose, your head resting on the pillar; the richness of the colours and the light. Your eyes could maybe have been a bit sharper but that is fairly minor and compensated by the lovely expression in them and on your face. I even like the grain on your face as it makes your skin looks more natural. Excellent!
Bok Maria!!!
Ova slika ti je bas dobra.
Dobra mi je kompozicija jedino mi se svijetlo iza tebe ne svidja.
Ali vjerujem da je slikati sebe jako tesko (nikada nisam probao). ;))

Hi Maria!
This photo is really great.
I like composition but I don't like light behind you.
But I belive it is very hard to take photos of yourself (I never try to do that). ;))
MAtej
Hello Marija... I do like the pose in the photo... Tones of the skin are great... I have prepared a workshop; the man in the background was removed... I hope you like...
Can
Svaka čast, Mare!
Technically, this photo has imperfections (purple fringing on your hand, OE part with that guy), but all in all it is a great self-portrait! Actually that guy's head makes this diagonal composition stronger, because it perfectly fits into your body figure.
Great photo, you should make more self portraits because you really look good here :) Next time choose different background.
Thanks for the week wishes, have a good time too! This is really good and brave shot, TFS!
Regards

A good portrait, like the high key effect and comp, (*_*)
exellent portrait !
exellent shot!!
bravo MARIJA!
bye....tanbinh.
Wow, Marija! If I were a guy, I think I'd fall in love with you right here and now!!! (But that's knowing that you've got the "whole package" - sweetness, intelligence, humor, etc.!! I would take all of that into consideration too ;) )
But...I'm not a guy, so all I can do is be jealous! This is just a wonderful portrait, and I love the model's expression and attitude. The green colors of "her" shirt look wonderful with the surrounding colors. This just blows me away. And no, the "blown out" background and the man don't bother me at all. Nice job with the structuring of the frame, also. It just looks right being thicker at the bottom.
This is going to my favorites! My dear, far-away friend, Marija.
Take care, sweetie.
Gayle
Brilliant shot Marija, you make a wonderful subject and this capture really is terrific as you say the lighting is wonderful, perfect I would say, and the model isn't bad either :-) Well captured. TFS
Peter
very interesting self portrait!
i just regret too much softening on the face, and also the little noise!
anway, it's avery good shot!
congratulations
philippe
in my eyes, you portray slavic beauty. not only, do i know that your serbian, but you just look like a slav. love this portrait, the edges are a little bright. i like the lighting, it's warm, but the white contrast of the outside is too over-exposed, its something, that could have been left out.
good portrait, and your quite lovely!
cheers

Hi Marija !
This is a great moody self-portrait !
A very sensitive one with a beautiful look.
The background enhances the image.
Great work !

Hello Marija
He did be lacking his self-portrait
Beautiful colors and the place could not be more perfect
the small details, help to ennoble his picture.
Pleasure in you know her, very beautiful.
Congratulations for his work, was perfect
Sérgio
There is too much fight between light and dark, there is to much conflict between brown and white, there is to much shine and not enough of your obviously beautiful eyes.
I am trying to look into your eyes, and then my sight shift to the arch. It confuses me a bit. Yes, the white is distracting and consumes the attention.
PS
I am criticizing it so much so you post more of your portraits.
What??? Bad Lisar, baaad … back to the cage!
Woof!
WOW Marija...when I saw the tumbnail I was just thinking of picture of a moviestar, when I click on it I saw it was you ;-)
It is a great picture with beautiful colours, light and a beauty...I began now to blush...everything is perfect Marija. Sorry I can't help you with PP work the most pictures I do try something and I see the result but don't know what I did...stupid Jos ;-)
My compliments of this beautiful portrait Marija it becomes a favorite!!!
Jos
The best way to deal with "purple fringing" is in the capture (try in very contrasty situations to use medium focal with the lens not very wide open). The purple in the arm is correctable in PS, but I think you did well not removing it...
Noise in shadows is very intrinsic to the F828 (almost a watermark). The use of UMS filter can make the noise more tolerable. Is anyway a very good shot, with a very good composition.
Wow! you are beautiful! ;) I was actually going to say that you should post a self portrait because your intro photo is very nice but you must have read my mind! lol
great natural lighting. I actually like the silloutte of the man behind you. Not sure why but I do.
Anyway, great self portrait! Post more! ;) JP

Very pretty self portrait Marija! The play of shadows on your face is nice and it accented your features. The only thing I will change, as my suggestion, is cloning out the man and puttin more gaussian blur on the building roof outside, without darkening it. the bright window will be the counterpoint to your portrait. Very well done.
Also, I like to thank you for your visit to my page and comments on my photo, "Pipe control" It is very much appreciated.

First of all, nice to see you, we see you nice...... always good to see the person behind the pics. I already saw a lot, also from people who have some difficulties with it but they did and that's great ! !
And now you, nice shot and the man behind you, he's acting as your shadow:))

HI Marija,
Nice to meet you :))
Lovely portrait! I really like the "pose" (just don't like teh word, but couldn't find beter), expression on your face is so sweet and so nice!! The comp is great and te man in the back adds to it. Some human factor in your picture.
Everything is very nice to me.
Congrats on your first one ;))
take care, Stef :))
As for the green men, there's only one you could get with such a beautiful image ;))
Normally, self portrait are piece of edonistical deformation of supposed difects. This is different. This is a wonderful photo.

Marija, I don't know how I could miss this beautiful portrait of the beautiful yourself. Stunning!
Consider a good crop of this limiting the picture to the dark area and I am sure it will be even more stunning!
Marija, I think this is well done. So much can be said.... or interpreted here. A couple fighting?.. A lonely girl?... An independent person?... A vulnerable couple?.. nicely done, and your sad expression really adds character to the whole thing. Well done.

Nice self-portrait, not only the model :-) !
I like the high contrasts and the composition.
However the over-exposed area (opened door) is a bit distracting for the eye. The man in the background is not really disturbing (looking outside, watching in the opposit direction than you... part of the composition ?)
I've looked the workshops, the sepia one is very nice, brings all the attention to your eyes.
Nice shot anyway.
Bravo !
Hi Marija,
I had a look at your work and saw this selfportret.
Very good. Interesting light and composition.
But what I like the most are your eyes! Wow, give us more. Great.
Thanks,

very good... a little short on sharpness, but the look in your eyes is amazing - especially since it's an auto-portrait.
Hey Maria,
I think you are right when not removing that man from the Backgroud.
But I have a few syggestions for potraits:
When you have other elements in the potriat like light and that men, you should not look into the camera. because its so strong that you make eye contat with the viewer and that takes away the viewers attension from other elemtns of the composition, and at the sametime, the light is so strong that it pulls the attention off from the face. That disturbs the center of attraction from the potrait. its good to make eye contact when only you r there in focus.
Second thing, the picture looks a bit balanced vertically. The space above your head is a little more, try shifting the frame a little lower.
Otherwise the colors, mood, and the composition is great. no doubt about it.
is it of any help?
Good start for potraits,
Regards,
Shahid

It seems that I am very late finding this one. I regret that.
However:
1: This is intended to be a portrait. There is no harm at all in including an interesting, if subdued, background. This background is interesting but MAY be too distracting - but I like it.
2: Subdued lighting enhances in a portrait and I'm all OK with the lighting here. I am not really interested in seeing the architectural detail in the bg. That's not what this is about. It's all about Marija.
3: Marija - we should see MORE of Marija. This is a classic female beauty, which reminds me more of a Spanish gypsy - flamenco comes to mind, especially with the BIG ear-rings. A face that should be photographed more often. Maybe by someone else?
4: Referring back to item 1, with such a classic image, you should not be backward in coming forward and making yourself the centre of attention - even more so that is.
I have looked at the other workshops ...
I will post a workshop of how I see this one. Bear in mind that I DO like your original but I just wish to stress the point I make in item 4.
It will be a little noisy and I can't fix that. The example is to show my view, as far as composition is concerned.
At this time of day, I have no stock of medals to give you but I may return ...
Your photo posted in your intro does not do you justice!
I will spend some time going through your collection. Should have done that before. I regret that too.
How did I miss this?
I have returned with a medal.
This is a very tricky post. The main subject totally draws my attention, therefore, unable me to notice any other elements.
Now that I blocked the subject with a piece of cardboard, taped on my monitor, I shall analyze. ;o)
The shaded area vs. the window makes a nice balance. Not to mention the subject vs. the guy looking on the opposite side. Those two elements contributes in making a perfect dynamic composition.
(In my humble opinion) the only thing that can enhance this lovely self portrait is to leave more room at the bottom. Perhaps just at the elbow level to finish up the diagonal line.
I’m in total agreement with Kit’s point #3.
Thank you for sharing Maria.

Hello. The all concept of the photo is wonderful. The lightning in perfect and your facial expression give the special touch to the shot. Well done!! What can I say... Nice to meet you!! :O)
I hope you have a GREAT 2006!!

What makes a good photographic image? Is it great exposure? Is it great composition, a great point of view, a great subject? Or is it a combination of all these?
Yes, these do make a good photograph. Yet, there are many images which possess all these, but do not make the grade.
Again there are some images that lack in some of these elements, but are still fine works of art.
I think, this photograph of yours is of this category.
I think, the point of view, the composition, the exposure in the main portion of the image, the lighting, the positioning, even the accidental man in the background, even the overexposure of the background, all combine to make a great photograph.
Above all, there is something ineffable in the photograph, a touch of some deep seated emotion, which has made this image so successful.
Some people might think I am reading too much into the image. Maybe ..., I AM an emotional person. For me the emotion behind a work of art and how successfully that has been conveyed are the most important things.
Haven't seen too many photographs reach the 100 mark.
Salil
PS. That you are very beautiful does not harm the photograph either.

Well done. I like this shot. Probably your face is not lighted enough and the light from the door is too much. You should try with a flash light in this situation. I would like to see more of you portraits because I think you are a beautiful model and good photographer.

Marija,
Great self portrait! I like your border too. 3 kinds of little green men? I will have to read the comments to see if you answered this already. Is there an envious green man? That would be me! Keep shooting and posting.
Aaron
You get a dark green man for beauty... :o) I would have liked a little more contrast between you and the brick wall behind you - even though it would result in the window behind you being more over exposed. I'll try to show you in a workshop...

A very long line ! I like the image because it's a lot of things. Mystery, beauty, calm, hint of a dark side, coolness and a certain detachment. I did a workshop. It exaggerates.
I guess everyone already said it all,... very nice portrait. But that light on the right is very distracting, and just doesnt go well with the photo. Did a small workshop.
