[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Fair seasons in my town are July and September, the most expected event for children. This is a night shot of a platform for those small cars where you have a short ride, and fun 'crashing' into the others...I loved it when I was a little girl, and when my only worry was if my parents would allow me to play with friends a bit longer that day...I would give much more that a ticket fine to feel that when I get out of the little car again...

I know it's technically not a good shot, but this time I just went for the mood.

PP: not much, just added sepia filter, autoleveled, resized, brightened the part with the people to make them more visible but I know it doesn't look too good.

I don't know why you think this is not technically good, Marija. You are really too hard on yourself - I guess we are all our own toughest critics!!!

I really like this shot and you gave it a really oldies feel with your treatment. I actually like the fact that we see the people watching the cars going in the ride as it gives a lot of a human touch to it. I also like the elongated format that shows us all of the bright lights. Well done!

Come on Marija!
I agree with Suzanne, it reminds me of an Ed Sullivan, or any of those retro 50's, 60's music sets. The flashing light bulbs, the wacky signs. I like it, and let us be the judge of the technical aspect, so stop being so hard on yourself. Remember, the glass is half-full and not half-empty.

cheers marija!

Great great shot, Maria !
The scene of a movie of the 50's.
Congrats, really. This is good job !

Good choice of B&W It's a good picture could be from this year or 10 years ago, it'snice and timeless... very well done... Marija!

this is cool! For some reason it reminds me of 1960's Las Vegas. :) Cool high contrast lighting. Very dark but it gives it a great moody feel. I like this one a lot. I keep missing your photos somehow so I am adding you to my favs now. JP

Hi Maria,
Nice composition. Good choice on the B&W. It sure looks like an oldie. Well done
Regards, António

Nice shot, Marija! The B&W goes very well with the subject and that big "Rock & Roll" sign. I put a different version in a workshop, just a different crop that is less centered. Nothing to take away from your photo, just my personal view. Good Work!

Hi Marija,
You gave this shot the exact mood of the Rock & Roll-era with the special B/W and that's very, very nice done ! And a flashback for you !

Great shot Marija
This kind of shot is not easily achieved but you did a marvelous job.
Thank you very much for sharing it ;)
BRAVO

You've got youth, you got Rock 'n Roll ... the only thing missing here is prom-night and you have a great snapshot that resembles of American Graphitti [movie by Peter Bogdanovitch, I think].

Your note made me look long into the pic to find reasons why it is "technically not a good shot". Can anyone help me find the "fault", cause I sure can't see it :)

Come on Maria ... if you keep being so harsh on yourself, you will end up cutting off your ear.

ComplimentS!

Hey Marija! (Or is it Maria? :)

A very retro feel to the shot. I'm guessing it's because of the tone..not really the words. I prefer this one compared to the workshop. The workshop lacks a bit of 'breathing' space. I really love those rides too! ...Now I just do it in my car! :P ...just kidding.

When you say "When I was a little girl...", you sound really old! ...You shouldn't say that! :P
...just kidding again :)

Cya!
M.

absolutly moody photo!
I like the darkness on it and less color information....
hvala lepa for your sharing!!!
and thnx for your really nice comment for children hospital photo!!!

i like the nostalgic feel of the photo :)
good in b/w, it look like one of those old photos taken with a range finder camera :)

Yes, like you, this shot reminds me so much of my childhood, Marija - it's filled with nostalgia. I was always afraid to ride the bumper cars, though. I think I thought I had to know how to drive!

I love your note too. It's all well done. :)
Gayle

Hi MArija,
Very "retro" shot! I like the tones you used and this lights indeed resembles some old TV show.

Well done!!

take care, Stef :))

Hi Marija I think is a great shot because the soft sepia gives a real mood of the 50's. You did it very good.

Jos

Very interesting shot Marija. Perfect chice with sepia....
Tomasz

Well well, to be honest with you sometimes is very good the technique to shot something in the weird way.

Steph.
