**update**
I changed the name of this picture, the name of which originally was 'The Strings', as this is not a bass, as Mr Maciek Frej (freju) very 'kindly' reminded me of. Sorry about this.

Hello TL friends!

A tough week behind me, sorry I wasn't active here as usual.
It is my big wish to do a portrait of one of my students who plays the guitar. Somehow, I still don't feel brave enough. One of these days, I hope.
This shot is taken in September, my friend has a son who plays the bass in his band. I wanted to give it a try, although it is not easy to be original with guitar shots. I tried to make it more abstract, and hence the crop...also, tried to keep the shadow, for the sake of the mood.

PP talk: crop, sharpening, B&W conversion, shadows/highlights adjustments, my favourite - warming filter, framing, resizing.

I hope everyone is doing well, I'll try to catch up with your latest posts. I truly missed you all!

WOW, A 6-string bass!!!! VERY cool!!!! There was a while I didn't see one of those ;)
And your picture is amazing Marija.
Excellent comp. great tonal range and very elegant presentation.

Very very well done!!!!

take care, Stef :))

8) a 6-strings bass ?? Never seen that !
I like this picture for the B&W. Nice shot and nice work !

Jean-Marc

Marija,
Good shot of a guitar. I love taking photo's of musical instruments. I have a Fender Strat, Mandolin and a Banjo in my gallery. You did a fine job representing it but it looks like a guitar. you sure it's a bass? You found a good angle.
Scott

I think you did a great job Marija...the angle, the sepia tone, frame...it looks good...well done my friend.
Have a great weekend Marija and take it easy.

Jos

Hello Dearest Marija
Always a pleasure to see your nice work and again thats what it is ! Very nice composition!
Compliment !

Bye, Johyn T

Nice POV on the guitar/bass/whatever by itself. What bothers me is what is in the top left corner as I cannot decipher it. It creates a visual distraction in my opinion. But again, the light on the instrument is great.

Hellllloooo Marija, great work with the bass guit.!! The POV is very interesting and the colour tone is just perfect...Tell me how you did it! :))
cheers
ToM

ps: I missed you too!! :)

Very nicely done, Marija, and certainly good to see you posting again (sorry to hear you have had a tough week and I hope you will have a very nice weekend to relax & recover). I like the warm tone of this B&W with almost a pinkish sepia tone. You have managed to be very creative in presenting this bass as I really like your POV. My only nit-picky thing is that I think the frame is too wide but then again I am not a big fan of big frame so it is a personal taste only and I am not certain of what I see in the left corner. Well done!

Sorry, I have run out of green smile!

Hello Marija,
I like musical instruments photo!
Good work
Regards
Ciao

Man.
I am professional bass player and as I can see, your guitar isn`t a 6 string bass.
It is a normal electric guitar.
Look on humbuckers.
Are they like in Bass??
No.
What a fool

Hello,Marija! This is another very nice and sharp photo! Lovely composition and beautiful details! Excellent frame and very nice sepia tones! Bravo,my dear! Michel

Excellent experiment Mare! I love this shot, I'm a (former) musician so I love any type of an musical instrument shot.
I am glad this was taken by non musician, because we can see a game with light and shapes, while musician often tend to emphasise the part of an intsrument he touches or some other part not interesting for the viewers (but for the listeners). Good job, looks almost like some opened candy bar :)
Regards,
Robert

P.S. Thanks for remind me that I should take a shot of my bongos ;)

Aaaahhhh, just lying here in an artistic pose..... but when it's "working", it is wild, it is screaming, it is heavy played by some wild mad axeman and that's what I like to hear, let them scream:-))
But for the peaceful artistic shot, you did a nice job, my friend, good composed and cropped....

Hello. In fact that´s a guitar... I have seen a lot of guitar photos and I can say that this is a great one! Nice prespective you use. Nice notes too. Good work!! Well done.

Nice shot Marija. I like your POV and the nice perspective in this image. Good crop to.
Well done
Réal

Hi Marija! Glad you found the time to post something. I liked this one particularly since I like photos of instruments. :)

I remember you showing me a color version which I really liked. My only nit pick might be to take the guitar strap off next time. I think I would rather see that space empty then having the strap there. It is a great composition though. Nice job! JP

I really like the warming filter on this, Marija! It sets it apart from the usual, and your crop is very nice too - creating a good composition and perspective.

Don't worry. I probably would have called it a banjo. ;)

Bye, sweetie.
Gayle

very nice POV and composition maria
